Is there a way we can all agree to NOT make fun of someone's mistakes and misery on here? Is it possible to keep the messaging related to sports in a positive, constructive way? The endless speculation and slander of people's characters does not help elevate high school sports, right?

3+ hours early to get a seat. There will probably be 10K+ people trying to watch this game. Let’s not forget that many of the seats will have already been sold to LA season ticket holders. This is why I ask the question why LA wouldn’t consider moving the game to Vanderbilt.

Let's not get too confused. If you're not familiar with my posts, feel free to go to my profile and/or back through my content over the years...I generally refrain from joining the "mob mentality" of piling on when mistakes are made, but when a husband, father, mentor, and educator engages in this type of willful behavior with a very recent student, let's not pretend that a simple mistake was made. I'm sorry for the wife, kids, extended family, and the other party & family involved, but the more people negatively affected by this DECISION, the more he's earned the shame of having it made public.

This is spot on. I can tell which officials are officiating for money compared to officiating for the "love of the game" based on mechanics, shape, and effort.

Officials are leaving not due to the fans but due to two factors: 1. In past years had judges, physicians, businessmen, etc. that officiated games because in their younger years they played the game at a high level and want to stay involved in the game. For whatever reason those individuals rarely ever get into officiating and now we have people that didn’t play the game at a high level and are doing it as a major source of income. 2. If the pay is increased you will see more qualified individuals get involved in the game. Like Dorris Armstrong once told me “all of these people say they are officiating for the kids but if you ever stop paying them they will stop officiating”. Simply put most people want to be compensated fairly for their work. I officiated for over 25 years and I only ever remember having one (1) fan ejected. If the official walks into the gym like a professional everyone will know that they are in charge and rarely will confront them or act like a fool. As an official you stop the game and give a verbal warning to the disobedient fan and that normally eliminates all issues going forward.

Well probably didn't help Lincoln Co had a future NFL QB on their roster as well. Anybody that loves football that lived in RuCo in the 90s can probably tell you about the 98 playoff matchup between Oakland and Riverdale held at MTSU that filled up most of the stadium, but instances like that are a rarity with the amount of games televised now

Oakland took Jordan James for them now respectfully, this guy is no Jordan James but it’s even grounds now.

The feeder system into William Blount has a major bearing why that program has so much trouble no matter if who the coach is. The same goes with Heritage also.Remember WB schools half the county but didn't have a midget team feeding it until this year after a layoff then those kids go to two middle school and combine those into one because not much of a turnout to run indiviual teams. Everyone of their fans want to win but nobody wants to roll up their sleeves and take the bull by the horns and get smaller league teams started. It's much easier to set at home and say it's Maryville's fault. Those kids from the county end up having to play for some of the city teams like Maryville and Alcoa and want to stay with their new friends and play football together throughout high school. Fairview was a very strong midget program and Shad insisted they change the name to WB and the whole thing disbanded. Shad tried to take control of the whole WB system and that's when it really fell apart. The only thing WB had to it's name was the junior high coach who was pretty good and he left and went home and pretty sure over Shad wanting to run things. Well that middle school program now is in the same shape the high school is. If they lose to Union County this year someone needs to pick up the phone and call in the Red Cross to stop the bleeding. Shad isn't all to blame for this mess but the man wasn't prepared according to his lifestyle to deal with a crisis like this and only made it worse. He did a great job with the Eagleton program last year and surprised he jumped ship for Catholic. That is another mess there also because you have to many chiefs expecting to compete with 5 teams on their schedule that are not winable for anyone. Those five teams are on another scale that Catholic isn't nowhere near or ever will be.

I think it is interesting that these are news stories. there are always transfers every year and sometimes some big ones but I dont ever remember it being news like it seems to be these days.

Following this story. Would be a huge loss for the Hornets to lose the Toddfather. Was the best defensive coordinator in east TN last year pound for pound imo.
