  1. Brother, there has been good and bad officiating in wrestling for the entirety of its history and always will be. The result can’t be changed after the fact so it does no good to complain about it after you state your case. It was stated and also turned over to our athletic director. After that, it’s out of the coaches and athletes control. The fact that you’re insinuating that we don’t care about our kids is my problem. Go and see who has lost the most amount of team points for disputing the officiating in matches. No one fights harder for their athletes than us. The call was not going to change, so you have two options: (1) spend your time and energy crying about it; or (2) spend your time and energy making sure the match is not that close next time.

  2. Well stated sir! That’s because he did want to attack JB. If review was the entire point, there was zero reason to put a coaches response to a bad call on here. And why that one in particular, if not to single him out? I saw a ton of questionable calls and more often than not, failure to make the call. So why just this one, because it’s obviously Bosken.

  3. Yes he does and wins 99% percent of all challenges. No better coach in your corner than that man, he will go to bat for any kid! As a parent and somebody who played sports as well, bad calls are part of the sport but we as parents can't sit around and blame the officials all the time. It's our job to use these as teaching moments and I believe Josh did it right by showing everyone the next day how we should respond. You get back up and go to work!! No need to sit around and complain because nobody has time for it.

  4. You clearly no nothing about the sport of wrestling or TSSAA. There is no procedure for overturning the call, there is no protest, there is no video review. Josh went to the head table and fought for his kid. So yeah, “it is was what it is.” It is certainly not “all about winning” for Josh or Joey. They treat all these kids like their own and are deeply invested in their lives. Josh is a fantastic man and father. People like you sit in the stands and have ZERO understanding of the nature of what we do and what coaches put into these kids. That same man you are criticizing from your golden throne had his kid up early the day after state and training to start doing something about not leaving it in the officials hands next year. Those moments Zac experienced are part of the journey and we view them as opportunities to get tougher. It’s ironic that you are criticizing other people’s comprehension and seem to have none. Here is some free advice, next time you want to publicly criticize how a man parents his son, think twice so you don’t sound like an idiot.

  5. I think your solution of screaming at the refs from the table most definitely is not the solution lol. it’s the same with any sporting competition. There’s bad calls. It’s just gonna happen. The refs are human and they’re just interpreting the action they see. Losing your mind over it isn’t going to change anything though. all that said, my opinion on the call in the 126 final is that it was the correct call.

  6. I know what you're saying but I am going to say Humboldt and Union City both win. Humboldt and Union City both are really good.

  7. The bottom half of AA is well… let’s just say an easy route for the only decent team GP. Once again.. the “blind” draw is a scam.

  15. I have seen some great coaches that were not good players. I guarantee it. It happens. Do you want to bet me? I have also seen some great players that were terrible coaches and or role models. One doesn't have very much to do with the other. Case in point.. Mike Leach.. he was the inventor of the Air Raid offense but did not play football. I guarantee it. The other thing I would mention is who out there really wants to do the job. They do not get paid much and are second guessed more than any other profession. Some coaches just get mercy ruled all the time and are not good coaches. I guarantee it. Do you want to bet me? I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.

  16. Can't wait for that Mount Juliet Christian School and FRA region matchup. That's going to be some compelling football. Boyd Buchanan and The King's Academy slugging it out for a mid-October battle for playoff positioning.

  17. What can be done @clevelanddad? There is a massive shortage of officials now. What are you going to do brother? Suspend them? Fire them? Who do you get to replace them if that happens? There are good officials and there are bad officials, just like there are good coaches and bad coaches. What needs to happen is we have coaches challenges and video review. It is at every level from youth through the senior level. No reason we should not have it at the duals and traditional state tournaments.

  18. the boys made a region tournament in soccer last year. here's hoping they do it again. But trutyfull, as i've said before, I don't follow them that much. I'm still trying to decide which zone I'll live in when I get married. I won't lie; I'll be choosing a house based on the HS's academics and sports. I'd consider maryville, but I don't think my family will ever be a basketball family per se.

  19. Lol, fair but I am justified right? My challenge win rate has to be over 90% @CarlSpackler88. Heck I even won the challenge when I accidentally hit that official with the brick at 14U duals a couple of years ago.

  20. IMO, Nolensville most likely wins their sectional and will take either Brentwood or Summit's spot at the state duals. You could make the argument they were the best (not by much) of the 3 this season but didnt wrestle well at a couple weights in their district duals.

  21. I think we need to get Cleveland wrestling its own soap opera! The melodramatic culture would be a hit!

  22. So next year.... Top half: Cleveland(1 seed), Brentwood (loses seed- opposite side of Summit), ? and ? Bottom half: Halls (2 seed), Summit (3 seed), Bradley (opposite Cleveland), and ? and one of those question marks is going to be DB

  23. Upperman is my team and we won both games but it was the most unenjoyable games I’ve experienced all year. The calls were terrible for both teams each game.

  24. Idk I think history wise GC and WV are right there together..both got 3 gold balls Westview has 2 silver Gibson county has one. WV has 18 state tournament appearances Gibson county as of now has 17. As a Westview alumni and fan I admit Gibson county is right up there with us in terms of history and tradition in girls basketball.

  25. While not the TSSAA, my son lost a match last year and the opposing coach came up to our coach, Sean Russell after the match and said "Man I'm sorry. You guys got robbed and he should have won that match". Don Elsea was watching and literally told us the call was wrong. Sometimes, it is exactly what it is. Score more points and it won't be left up to the refs. I've seen those Cleveland coaches in action. They fight hard for their guys. heck, Matt High throws more bricks in freestyle than any coach in the country. HA!

  26. I thought Posey was a senior? Also, we are returning 5 of our 7 state finalists and 7 of our 11 placers. Our freshman class this upcoming year is killer and all of the ones who make the lineup will contend for a state title next year, so I expect no drop off from this year even with Logan graduating and Lucas moving back to Indiana. Summitt will be good again for sure. I honestly don’t know much about what the other teams are getting back.

  27. You just didn't get caught. This is last years, but it hasn't changed in years.... https://cms-files.tssaa.org/documents/tssaa/media/MediaRegulations.pdf I-B2: "If a TSSAA state playoff event is selected for broadcast by a SBP School or the NFHS Network, no other entity will be allowed to broadcast the event via the Internet or television." Also I-D "Any media entity or school that is not a member of the SBP wishing to Internet stream or tape delay television broadcast any football playoff games or sectional tournaments/games for all other sports must submit their request to the TSSAA in writing for that event. The request must be submitted at least three days prior to the event in question. This includes state championship events not covered by the NFHS Network. If approved, a fee will be negotiated."

  29. Cleveland Raiders wrestlers kick everyone's butts. Cleveland Raiders will still be good next year and mercy rule a whole bunch of their opponents. When wrestlers from other teams wrestle Cleveland Raiders they usually get their butts kicked. I guarantee it. I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.

  30. Three classes is one too many. It is so watered down with 8-10 teams in a classification. I also think public schools should have only 4 classes like they do in basketball. Use the same playoff format used for basketball. Highest seed plays at home until BlueCross bowl for football. Elite 8 all play in the glass house.

  31. If you say so lol. And if youre talking about Bearden “out-recruiting” (which they are, but i digress), why didn't they beat Alcoa last year? You can worry about someone else’s grass or put time and effort into making your own grass greener. Just stop crying about enrollment numbers.

  32. Donatello you sound like a grumpy old man that is a fan of Austin Roadrunners. Stop with the slanderous remarks toward Alcoa Tornado. If anyone wanted to fudge the numbers it would likely be Austin Roadrunners from the east side of Knoxville. Even if Alcoa Tornado was in another division it would not matter. Austin Roadrunners had better players than Hampton Bulldogs in 2015 and lost in the second round. Austin Roadrunners then had better players than Marion County in 2016 and lost in the semifinals. Austin Roadrunners have proven that they underachieve with the magnificent athletes they are blessed with on the east side of town. I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.

  36. Great game against Union City & Humboldt went down to wire with UC winning 70-68 with Brooks having 40 points that kid can play! Humboldt will travel to Memphis to play Middle College on Monday & UC gets Booker T Washington at home. Good luck Vikings let’s get ready to play Monday!!!

  39. His son just lost state on a questionable call. I’d say he didn’t feel like shooting the breeze. I saw him at practice the following Tuesday and still wanted to give him space and not speak about it. Bosken is a no excuse type of guy, so “it is what it is” makes perfect sense to me.

  41. I do think there losses have been big. Any time you lose two starters in HS basketball it hurts you bad. First time we played Westview we probably shot 75% from the field. The Freshman PG that night hit two or three big shots that kept Westview in it early. Any body that knows basketball knows she is a great talent and I wish her well recovering. Losing Simpson is really bad as well. She could mix it up and score down low and shoot three's. I do think Gibson County's defense and fundamentals gives them a shot at any team. They are not flashy but at the end of the night they are up on the scoreboard. Same with Westview. Very fundamental and play great defense. Very possible if Westview had been healthy they could have won 1 or 2. I think it levels out next year and it will be sure enough pick em type games providing everyone comes back and is healthy. I hope we play one more this year.

  42. I think we have a decent chance Saturday. Those road sectional games are extremely tough and the home team usually wins. As for the Cleveland boys, they lost like 7 seniors last year. They were always going to be bad this season.

  43. Obviously I know you have no idea the way the program was being run so I don't fault you for that but to say things have majorly upgraded starting in the weight room is an understatement. There are several things that led to the coaching change and It had nothing to do with the record the past 3 years. We have moved on from 3 coaches total and have brought in 3 great new additions. Everything is stable at the View and kids are looking forward to a deep playoff run. Gonna be a lot of points scored the next few years to come and great D-fense play as well. Future is Bright in Martin thanks, to the administration making the appropriate changes.

  44. Do they call you turtle because you like to hide in your shell? Last i checked, literally punching someone doesnt win games, in any sport at any level. You are delusional and sound like everyone who fears Alcoa. They don't recruit and there is less than 700 kids in that building. Kids go there because they want to win and the coaching staff does it the right way. By putting time and effort into their kids. All the programs whining about it need to take a long look in the mirror and put in the work necessary to win instead of praying that Alcoa moves up. East Nash didn't complain while pearl cohn and milan ran from the challenge. And i have the utmost respect for that. Every good coach knows that any state championship in 3A worth anything goes through Alcoa and anything less should have an asterisk next to it. What happened to being competitive? If i were a coach i would LOVE the opportunity to coach against a program like that. Some people are just built different i guess…. LOL

  45. That was exactly my point. We COULD win 7 or more matches against them, so saying we don’t belong seems a little unjustified. I honestly don’t know why anyone feels the need to even say we don’t belong in the first place. Those rankings are simply Mat Scout’s opinion. Our state is getting recognized in a good way by outside observers and people just want to respond by saying “Cleveland is not really a Fab 50 team.” Why not just say good for Cleveland and good for our state @FR615? And before you start talking about hurt feelings, go back and read some of the posts you made after Father Ryan got dropped by McCallie.

  46. I was at the game and the refs were over there head in this game. Called 9 fouls to 2 against Humboldt in the 1st quarter. About 5 were legit fouls but Humboldt's Fred Moore got two on him early where I seen no contact at all. He got his 3rd in the second quarter on another bad call where a kid flopped. He sat out most of the first half and at one time Humboldt was up 10. It was so one sided Humboldt's coaches had a meeting at half with all the refs and the game administrator came out. All of this happend after a double technical to start the game. Both teams are really good. I mean really good. Humboldt won last year in Memphis if I am not mistaken. Second half they called the game fair but the first half was awful and took Fred Moore completely out of the game. Just dictated the game.
