Tank,

Keep up the good work. You're doing a great job and are a true asset to the Oak Ridger and ORHS is fortunate to have you as the local sports reporter. There are several schools that could give The Cats a run for their money. That doesn't mean they don't have the talent and team to win all of their games but very few teams have made it all the way through undefeated, high school or college. You are correct in the fact that their are some dangerous games ahead. I always have thought you have to be really good to win it all, AND you most likely win one you should have lost. That's why they actually play the games instead of letting a bunch of old farts like us decide who should win. Go Cats!

Ole Dad

I have a tape, would love to sit down and review it with you.

I did say Ooltewah was a very dangerous team, felt like they had the best chance of beating Oak Ridge in the regular season. At the beginning of the year, I could have added Soddy as well.

I did NOT make that statement recently.

And Oak Ridge can't just show up and beat Farragut either, they will need to play well, like they are very capable of. If you think I am Oak Ridge bashing, I am very sorry. You should hear those guys that do the Friday night show! :)

If I ever pick Oak Ridge to lose in the paper, and they don't, then you can bash away. I can say many things, I said I thought WB was a dangerous team, but who did I pick to win? Saying a team has the potential to do something and believing they will actually do it, are two entirely different things.

I honestly doubt I will pick OR to lose a regular season game, but who knows, if it stirs the nest, I have always enjoyed doing that.

Most fans of their teams do not have the word objective in their vocabulary. Unless, of course they are a TN VOOL fan and most of them are either front runners or pessimists. If they win, all they talk about is how much they screwed up and if they lose, they say I told you they would lose.

Where is the "doubt" coming from? Is Tank supposed to say Oak Ridge will never lose again? What will he look like as a reporter when Oak Ridge loses?

How do you feel about the guys who write about UT every day? Should they say UT didn't lose the game against Georgia?

Being a fan and reporter are two different things, even for a hometown reporter.

atleast you dont deny saying it.....i commend you for that.....I just find it funny that the guy that watches them week in and week out DOUBTS them. As an outsider and lifelong ORHS fan it just doesnt make sense.

Tank,

They need to get someone on the Friday night show who can comment on the Oak Ridge game and players, I'm not talking about someone who will toot and root for Oak Ridge, just someone who has knowledge of the team, The guys do a great job, but, by there own admission, they can't answer questions or address many comments concerning the wildcats

I am sure they would love to have someone like that. I just can't be consistent now, covering the 'Cats and all. It will just take someone who finds it intriguing to be on TV until 1 a.m. for nothing more than free pizza.

I wish I could think of someone who could comment better on this year's team, hopefully they will work it out. But those guys do a super job and give up a lot of free, late time to come down there, so I agree with that.

Tank,

Your right, the guys do a super job with little if no reward, I hope they don't take my post as a knock against them, it was just an observation.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
