Tonight I witnessed basketball history. Harpeth had the ball, getting ready to put up a shot. Someone from Stewart Co.(on defense at the time) calls a timeout...and the timeout was GRANTED!!!! After trying to sort this out the refs declare it a jumpball and the posession arrow was in favor of Stewart Co. There were several calls that were terrible in my opinion-both ways.

Just to let you know, no 1 called timeout. Coach Craig said that when SC gets the ball they need to call timeout. The ref heard him say that and blew the whistle for a timeout when he wasnt even calling one. Because the ref blew an inanvertant whistle (dunno if i spelled it right) the only thing they could do was call a jump ball bc no1 had true possession of the ball at the time. And yes i do agree that the refs were pathetic and the tech on our coach was horrible too. Bramlett asked to talk to the ref and the ref gave him the cold shoulder. then craig said something like if its gonna be like this all night since the ref wouldnt talk. the he turned and gave him the tech. the indian looking ref agreed that the T shouldnt have been called and the one that called the T didnt ever specify if it was on Craig or Bramlett so they both stayed seated. Im pretty sure i got all the facts straight but yes the refs (mainly the black one) was absolutely horrible, even during the girls game.

thanks for the clarification. Stewart's coach was smiling as if he thought he got a time out on defense. Are most of Stewart's home games officiated like that?

No not usually, thats the first time we have had problems like that this year. The Indian ref is usually pretty good and he was better than the other 2 no doubt. The tall white guy seemed new and he was the one that caused the timeout issue. And the black guy stayed consistant with no calls both games and was the one that gave us the T. But no its usually not that bad.

District look for the final 2 weeks

Sycamore 10-1 NDG: vs. Waverly, @ Fairview, vs. Harpeth

Harpeth 9-2 NDG: vs. Cheatham, @ Mont. Cent., @ Sycamore

Creekwood 7-3 NDG: @ Fairview, vs. Cheatham, vs. Waverly

Fairview 5-5 NDG: @ Waverly, vs. Creekwood, vs. Sycamore, vs. Cheatham

Waverly 5-6 NDG: vs. Fairview, @ Sycamore, @ Creekwood

Stewart Co. 4-8 NDG: @ Cheatham, @ Mont. Cent.

Cheatham Co. 2-8 NDG: vs. Stewart, @Harpeth, @ Creekwood, @ Fairview

Mont. Central 1-10 NDG: @ Creekwood, vs. Stewart, vs. Harpeth

the top 3 spots are pretty much a locked positions unless harpeth is able to take the number 1 spot but i see sycamore finishing in 1st. 4th and 5th is a close battle which will depend on their next couple of games, Fairview has a really tough closing, they really need to be careful and not finish the season with straight losses. Waverly needs to overpower fairview, they have a good chance of beating creekwood if they can shut down the big guys like they did on their own court. The best Stewart Co can hope for if they win out is that Fairview or Waverly arent able to win more than one more game, the rebels split with fairview and they also have the tie breaker over waverly having beating the both times this season. Should be an interesting final 2 weeks

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
