The DB Indians play Siegel in Knoxville today. That will be a tough game. Conference opener Tuesday at home vs Volunteer. That probably won't be a tough game.

The Post is the key to the Indians success this year IMO. Edwards and Adams are as good (better) a Post combination as anyone has in East Tennessee, behind them we have little to no experience. They will need to stay out of foul trouble against the better teams, i.e. Siegel today.

That is my only worry this year Art, our lack of size. Last year we had an abundance, this year we have almost none. We did alright against Farragut, who has post players at 6'9 and 6'10. We wore them down with speed and quick moves inside. I'm not sure what Siegel has outside of their prolific scorer, but I'll be at the game tonight and try and offer my analysis later.

Am I going to have to start a SHHS/Central thread? The game is tuesday and it's like crickets around here. Maybe I'm the only one who thinks that it'll be a good game. Worth seeing at least.

Somebody had started a Science Hill/Sullivan Central thread a few weeks back. You may have to look a few pages back to find it. Bump it back up to the front, I'm sure they'll be some takers.

Dobyns Bennett 81

Siegel 70

Final

The game was a thrill ride, high octane from beginning to end. Dobyns Bennett was shooting lights out in the first half and Siegel was dunking throughout. The Indians went in at halftime up four.

The Tribe was able to extend their lead to eleven right out the gate to start the third quarter, but Siegel came roaring back with a run of their own to end the third with Dobyns Bennett still leading by four. The Indians ran a minute and fifteen seconds off the clock at the start of the fourth and from there it was back and forth, with the Indians maintaining a three to four point lead until about the three minute mark when Siegel began fouling. Dobyns Bennett converted on the majority of their free throws to ice the game.

The only negative spot in this game was the referees inability to keep up with the speed of the game. It went both ways, however, thus it did not change the outcome. Great job Tribe, this was a great test and you passed with flying colors.

Good win for the Indians against a top program in the state, neutral court. How did the scoring break out for the Tribe?

Looking forward to get to play Greeneville next Saturday. I like putting a whipping on that team and that coach.

Might wanna worry about winning the Big 9 first Coach /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Worry about yourself Freddy, you know what he meant.

I caugt the end of the game on AM 1320 with Thom Throp. Apparently the refs were a problem again, so much so that Thom expressed his disappointment and the Knox Central coaching staff apologized personally to Coach Morgan after the game. Thom said it best, in describing the Indians accomplishments over the weekend, when he said the Indians beat a taller team in Farragut, a more athletic team in Siegel, and a more aggressive team in Knox Central. Well done Indians.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
