Why is TN not recruiting both of these Alcoa boys? Toney and Robinson. If they are really that great, then why are the Vols not after them?

To be honest, Alcoa has produced great athletes that have D-1 potiental but how many go on to have productive college careers? I know they have had many not qualify academically, then you got Brandon Warren, and so on. I am not knocking on their program but for some reason their high school success doesn't translate into success on the college level. Cobb has been the exception to the rule.

I know some Alcoa fans won't like that comment but that is something I have noticed the last couple of years about the talent at Alcoa.

Randal Cobb - KY

Kyrus Lanster - KY

Rae Sykes - UT

Brandon Warren - UT (was)

Chris Shiverdecker - C-N

Tyler Robinson - KY (2010)

several at D II & III colleges.

Dustin Lindsey - UT (academics).......(1)This is many?? :flower:

What other TN high school has more SEC players? :roflol:

Is Brandon not at UT anymore?

Check out OC Brown for yourselves. Manassas High School - #77

Just watched this video. That is the most awesome display of speed and power out of a high school player that I have ever seen.

I can see why O.C. Brown is rated as 4 stars. On one play he runs a total of 60 yards, stride for stride w/the running back who eventually passes him at the goal line.

I have been following your debate and not only would I vote for Brown as the best lineman in 3A but I would vote for him as the best lineman in the state. James Stone looks slow compared to Brown in his Rivals tape.

I challenge anyone to watch the clip and tell me different.

Some stats for consideration, through seven games.

Jobronski Gilbert, RB/DB, Sr, Milan

123 carries, 760 yards, 17 TD rushing; 31 tackles, 1 sack

Jaron Toney, RB/DB, Sr, Alcoa

116 carries, 1118 yards, 25 TD rushing; 34 tackles, 2 sacks

Avery Williamson, FB/LB, Sr, Milan

288 yards, 2 TD rushing; 3 catches, 35 yards, 1 TD receiving; 49 tackles, 1 INT

Tyler Robinson, DE/TE, Sr, Alcoa

6 catches, 81 yards, 1 TD receiving; 31 tackles, 3 sacks

I've seen all 4 play this year. Here's my take on each of the 4.

Jobronski Gilbert - A very hard nosed runner and isn't afraid to run you over. His speed is aceptionally good as well. He's a typical Milan RB and does the job to perfection. At LB, Jobronski is extremely explosive and very quick to the ball if Avery doesn't get there first. He will take a players head off if they don't watch it. Jobronski is a good kid from what I hear as well!

Jaron Toney - A quicker RB than Jobronski and has strength to go with his speed. He single handily beat Maryville by himself with 6 TD's and 350+ yards rushing. That alone should be him up for nomination for Mr. Football. As DB he was quick to the ball (as was the whole Alcoa defense) and let no defenders get behind him in his coverage. To be honest, Toney is my pick to win Mr. Football for backs. (No offense to Jobronski)

Avery Williamson - He is probably the best LB in this area since Chris Donald of Huntingdon. The 49 tackles through week 7 is very deceiving on how he plays. He hasn't gotten to play the second half of several games as is the case with Jobronski. Avery Williamson is very much like Chris Donald in size and play making ability. The only thing that Avery has on Chris is 22 tackles in a state championship game. Those 22 tackles against Alcoa is something that voters need to keep in mind from last year. Avery is definately worthy of getting a nomination for Mr. Football this year!!!!

Tyler Robinson - He's an absolute BEAST on both sides of the ball! I had heard talk about him and figured he was good, but he is alot better than I thought he was. I was extremely impressed with Robinson and he's a head hunter out on the field as well. Robinson WILL WIN Mr. Football for linemen in 3A.

I wouldnt say JaRon beat murvil by himself. He had an outstanding game but you have to give some credit to the O-Line/bocking WR's and the D.

I see JayBronk and Avery play every week so I've gotten used to their great play. I remember Toney from last year's title game and he's a special player, the robinson kid is a BIG TIME player. JayBronk had alot better stats last year, but he got knicked up a little before this season from a Football Camp.

I would say that he's been 100% for only the last few weeks. With all that being said, I think the Alcoa boys will bring um both home and we will just settle for the Gold Ball. I think it's a fair trade. Good luck to all the nominees.

HAHAHA you are funny. :mrgreen::thumb::thumb::thumb::lol:

Smartest person alive,

You said,"While true, this statement does not genuinely reflect the point you are attempting make, that being the players are not as talented as they are being portrayed throughout this thread. The University of Tennessee in Knoxville has offered zero players who are participants on a football team in class 3A and so there is almost no point to you even posting this. In fact five players in the state of Tennessee have offers from UT, one a DII player, one in 4A, two in 5A, and one in 6A. So now I will proceed to address other issues presented throughout this thread." Well, you must not be the smartest person alive, because you totally missed the point I was trying to make with my comment. I was not trying to say that this means that these two are not some of the best in 3A. What I meant by my statement was why wasnt TN going after these two, since they are so talented? Why were they not being recruited by UT? So, smartest person alive, you got it wrong!

I don't have an opinion about any of the players in this thread. I have my own son to work with and pray he gets a serious offer somewhere. But from what I understand UTK Coach Kiffin doesn't like recruiting from local boys. He feels the best tallent will come from out of state. I personally think that's ashame. Our boys grow up watching and listening to TN football. Families buy and wear the Big Orange colors everywhere they go. The TN football tradition is part of our kids daily nutirition. It's a lot of boys dreams to be able to put on an Orange Jersey. If any local/state boys get a chance to go play for the Vols I wish the well.
