Since when would you pass up a free tuition to go to ensworth and START for them? And my son started for the bears. It was going just fine. More of a scholastic move. Since mj can't send it's best players to college and has to get other coaches to do so. When was the last d1 player mj sent out?

When you refuse to do recruiting for your kids bc of how their haircut is or because it's not your job, I refuse to respect you as a coach. I'm sure contrez and Hopkins would agree with me.

My son is doing just well. I'll send a picture of out state ring at the end of the year.

Who is your son because there has been none that went to ensworth. Honestly, you are stirring stuff up. I can also assure you that the coaches work hard to push their kids to college. The best high school players in the country go on to play at the d1 level. McCathern, Graham, and Hopkins all had talent to play at the d1 level, but you have to open your mind a little to understand the full spectrum of what is going on. Mccathern and Graham had a horrible ACT score and Hopkins height got him. Why would a coach not want their kids go on to play at the next level to represent their program? You my friend are stirring stuff up because you or your so called son have a personal conflict with some of the coaches. But to question the integrity of them is an issue I will not stand for. These coaches have helped my son out through thick and thin and I will back them up 100%. Question their play calling or whatever you think you know, but not their integrity. This is a ridiculous post from a ridiculous person. MJPride don't read into this post.

It would be nice huh? Maybe y'all could beat ensworth too huh? Beech fans are as smart as Alabama fans.

Mj fans are living in the past like ut fans.

Y'all keep bringing up wc like I give a hoot about them. I'm just saying that mj will loose because they are awful, and Jh got hurt last year during the wc game so the sec defenses are defiantly get into that high running form. Plus what oline will he have at ut next year?

Packed it in on his teammates. Go dc, you are going places kid

thats the second thing Beech fans have in common with Alabama fans. The other is getting to root for a champion multiple times over the last few years. We prefer to be called "blissfully ignorant".

WCP; you need to get your stories straight. Last year you said your son was a freshman that was called up to varsity on Friday nights. I didn't see any MJ freshman from last year that are listed on the Ensworth roster? Probably a typo.

Noway ; you are so right about the MJ coaching staff. They bend over backwards to help these young men. Obviously WCP has a problem with the MJ coaching staff and MJ. There is no one that works harder than  these coaches and players.

GO BEARS !

BK you are right.  I have never actually seen any coaching staff who wouldn't bust their butt to help their players get to college.  The truth is, many good high school players aren't college material.  Some because of grades, some because of talent (or just not enough of it), and some because of attitude.  College potential athletes will be discovered.  Take Josh Malone for instance.  He hasn't arrived on the national scene because of what he has done at SC.  It was because of his potential and what he did at "combines."  He would be a prospect if he was in school at Red Boiling Springs. His parents gave him opportunities outside of his school and it has paid off.   Unfortunately, many parents whose kids fall short of the college dream have to blame someone.  After all, their couldn't be any flaw in their child (SARCASM).  Many times the "friends of the family," AAU coaches, etc, etc, do these kids no favors by telling them they are more than they really are.  I don't know WCP, but I doubt his son was a player/starter from MJ who has gone to Ensworth to play.  Sounds like another disgruntled parent.  And what better way to stir the pot, than on a message board behind a screen name.  95% of the people on these boards are really good at sharing information and legitimate opinions.  Then their is the other 5% who are just "axe grinding," truly blind, or lying.

I know FOR S FACT mj had a wr a couple years ago,2, that was a great player. You all know him. Who had multiple looks at d1. Well time came and the season ended bitter for rp. The kid got a hair cut into a Mohawk and rp said he wouldn't do his recruiting. He actually went to a small NAIA school for a year. Came to a rival school in the district. Asked for help. THEIR coaching staff sent video out via hudl, and the kid got accepted into wku.

Also you complain about Hopkins height, have you seen vw? Great explosive player. But 5'9 at best. The oline man tht get a PARTIAL at ttu is bc of tP. He does good things for kids.

I'll be interested where 84 goes. He's got multiple d1 interest. We will see at the end of the year.

Imj, central- although may have lost were year to mj. They have sent a d1 player to some school every year. If they are not very good as bk says.

Same for sc.

    • I've always been a football fan first and then if you have a band that's awesome. No question that DB has one of the best bands in the country and the whole region should attend at least one DB game just to see their band. I don't know if Nick Saban could come to Kingsport and build a football program that could match the Dobyns Bennett band's success. That said,as mentioned before, a couple of things would have to change in order for the Tribe to just win a state championship on the field.Besides a program that starts from the peewee teams and goes all the way to J Fred with all coaches and weight training { in time }on the same page. Sometimes it also takes a little luck like the 1998 Vols .There are a lot of great athletes at a lot of big schools around the state and just because you want something doesn't mean your going to build a program like Alcoa has. Yes,start at the bottom and have guys that are quality coaches teaching at every level is 100% the first step. Parents can make it a lot easier by getting their young athletes into an early start with conditioning and weights as well when they are old enough to lift.If your son is a man in the weight room before he gets to DB , then it won't take a "Dobbs" coach to make him competitive against other schools athletes when it comes to strength.

    • A complete cultural change happened at Greeneville and the administration and community opened up their checkbooks.  What a lot of people don't know is Ballard was Zeller's OC for many years and stopped coaching for two years because Zeller and Ballard didn't see eye to eye on some things.  Zeller lead Greeneville to it's first ever Semi Final appearance in 2000 and lost 28-12 at Maryville and had them in the Quarter Finals in 2002 and 2003.  Z was a great coach but lost some control when it came to making workouts mandatory. (He learned from that Mistake and it was at LC when i coached with him.).  Z was let go going into my Senior Year and was replaced by Steve McCurry who was the one that turned the program around.  Steve had won a 4a state championship at AC Reynolds in Asheville and made the administration completely redo the weight room with new equipment, had a football period at the end of the school day to lift, started devil camp, and brought in coaches like Danny Bentley (Still the OL coach), Ballard as the OC, Cody Baugh (QB coach and still there), and even Spradlen who is Greeneville's head coach now as the DB's Coach.  McCurry only coached for two seasons at Greeneville and took a team that had a losing record the year before and finished my Senior Year making it to the Quarters and having a 10-3 record and then followed it up with a Semi Final appearance the next year with an 11-3 record and back to back conference championships.  Loved McCurry to death but the recession hit and the story i heard was he was still buying new equipment for the team that the Principal didn't authorize and his response was "I don't answer to you and only to Niswonger and Bewley" (Two huge donors).  That was it for him and they Promoted Ballard shortly after that.   Greeneville had always been relevant ever since the the late 70's under Coach Fred Sorrell's.  Since Sorrell's took over in 1977 Greeneville overall winning percentage is over 76%.  The biggest reason people might not have thought Greeneville was "Good" until Ballard was Greeneville always played up Classification wise and could never get over the hump. (When there were 3 classifications we played 3a, when it went to 5 we played 4a).  Greeneville is the largest its ever been with 953 students and where playing teams 2 or 3 times there size back in the day (I had a little over 800 kids in the school when i graduated in 2008).  Other teams always would know they would be sore after a game but depth took over and never won a Championship until Greeneville played in the classification the TSSAA actually assigned them. You had names like Dustin Moore (1993 Mr Football for 3a and who Phillip Fulmer said was one of the greatest athletes he ever recruited), James "Mud Turtle" Mayes, Brigham Lyons, Byron Gillespie, Frankie Debusk (National Champion Qb at Furman with GQ), Jasmine Lowery, Cody Baugh, The Greenway Brothers, Joe Watson (Furman), etc.  Now the cultural is from the Pee Wee league up and you grow up as a young kid wanting to wear the Greene and White.  Here is a really good link when it comes to anything Greeneville Football related. https://greenevillefootball.com/   I also don't coach anymore.  Z told me i was to smart with how the school systems are ran these days and ended up going into real estate in Knoxville which has been a great decision for my life.
    • Yes, they will. I'm wondering what kinds of strides Sale Creek will make heading into the second season under Coach Fitz.
