William Blount offseason thread

It all comes down to what you believe you can do. If you accept 5-5 as good then that is what you will always shoot for and anything more will be gravy. I can tell you this about Maryville. The kids that go through the feeder system are taught that early and parents want their kids to be apart of that and people get in line to get their kid on those teams. Some get turned away and for the most part I see those kids end up at Fairview but end up back at Maryville down the line someway or the other. I have watched friends and other coaches with those other teams fight to get enough players to even make a team and I hate seeing what comes next. The bad part or the dark side of Maryville Football is the fact that someone is going to get to play and someone isn't. That puts a lot of pressure on those young kids which come from parents that think their kid is the next Peyton Manning but he isn't being given his chance. I watch parents hold their kids back a grade just so they will have a better shot at playing football which in most cases is very selfish on that parent because it's a one in a hundred shot that kid would go any farther than high school football and you have robed a year out of that kids life for your own selfishness. I see that more and more and that is a drawing line in my book.

admitting that 5-5 or 6-4 is a decent year doesn't mean that is all you are aiming for. Just think about it, 5-5 isn't great but it sure as h*ll beats a 1-9 or 2-8 or 3-7 season. At the time wb was solid I was disappointed with 5-5 or 6-4 records and thought they could have done alot better but now I would be tickled pink if wb won 6 games and made the playoffs. I think it's just human nature to want more more more. Average records may not please Maryville fans now but what if Maryville was going 2-8 every year? I guarantee you that 5-5 or 6-4 record would look a lot better to ya'll. I would love to see the Govs go 15-0 and win state but right now I would be pleased just to see them break .500 and make the playoffs again. Baby steps..

It's better to be one step from h*ll walking away than 1000 miles from heck walking toward it.

I don't think anyone knows exactly which direction WB football is walking, though

luckily WB has some experience coming back next year and a few young players that are very talented and play really hard. If the boys work hard this offseason and are committed to being good there is no reason they can't be alot better next year. Hopefully the administration is supportive of ridge and allows him to put together a staff that can help him get the job done.

It read’s as though it is the collaborative brain child of Thomas “The Ox of Sicily” Aquinas and John “Give Him 6!” Ward. Somewhere in this, the thoughtful mind will find, the exact future of Trousdale County Football. The Goat sez: Ox?!? Pffft. I can do stuff a dumb ole bull can do. I can take an “a” and I can take an “o” and I can do better and more of that bull stuff… in Latin. Diarrhoea Fecaes  The next coach of ole Snoball’s Yeller Jackets, ain’t on that list.
    • One school gets fined over $4,000 dollars because they had a baseball coach that gets ejected over a rule that is not in the rule book today (because no umpires in Tennessee called that rule when that coach was ejected). One school will get fined over $3,000 dollars because they had a football coach intentionally cheated. I hope TSSAA keeps a receipt over what schools they fined and how much, and for what reason. Meanwhile, if I'm a football coach at a school that has $3,000+ in the piggy bank, then hmmm.. No one knew Clinton was cheating intentionally until they went overboard and changed over 1,000 grades, and the word got out.

    • I just learned of this today and am very happy for Coach Peek. Excellent coach, better man.
