South Pitt vs. Fayetteville (Moore man against this Palmer man)

I don't think SP will have a huge problem with Fayetteville.

SP should win by at least 21. However, they have some athletes, and the best ones are underclassmen.

They reminded me a lot of SP especially on defense, same colors and everything.

SP and Gville will be seeing a lot of Fayetteville in the years to come.

I would almost make them an early favorite to win it all next year.

They have about 5 or 6 seniors and will return a bunch.

#32 is a stud, but if SP can stop the run, they should be alright. #7 is their QB, good athlete, but would probably be better at another position. They don't pass it very well.

Once they got a lead against us they stopped throwing the ball and we couldn't stop them, if they would've kept on passing, it could've been a different ballgame as we dropped about 4 int's.

I wish both teams the best of luck and I wish it was Gville driving down to SP but it is what it is.

Remember, Fayetteville will be a force in the future.

They have the demographic as a city school to definitely be successful in 1A for years to come. Loaded with athletes, they're just young.

If that is the case, I would forsee kids coming there from Lincoln County and bumping up their enrollment numbers/classification eventually. They aren't even a mile down the road from each other.

I'm going to call my buddy over at T$$AA and see if they can line up that exact officiating crew to send to SP this week! If Union City and Nashville Christian can get SP out of the picture then the semifinals become the FINALS! :popcorneater:

Seriously 21 penalties for 200+ yards is unbelievable. SP's plays and wins with class. No way they could be committing that many fouls.

I watched the game ya'll played with them Croz. They had some good players but at the same time I didn't think they should have beat ya'll. Too many mistake. It seemed like their best play was dropping back and throwing the deep ball and letting their receiver go get it. That concerns me a little cause are defensive backs...well...nevermind.....But, our boys have to play ball for sure but I do not see this one being close if they come out...It is a first year school and they need doubt and reality to set in early...On another topic, Beene stadium needs some noise, that place sounded like a funeral home most of the time last night....You go to Gordonsville or Trousdale and you see their crowd cheering and hollering the whole game...It just seems like at ours the only time people holler is when their is a bad call by the ref...They need some noise like at the 07 game against Hampton...Just saying

I counted one sequence there was a flag on like 8 straight plays. It was horrible.

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
