No Privates Left in Playoffs

There are many factors as to why kids go to public or private schools. For all the SP or TC posters, what if your school had a bad coach, and that coach changed every couple years. What if that was where you were zoned and that was the only public option. Most people in metro areas go to private schools to avoid horrible public sports programs. It's not the same as it is in the country. I agree there is little reason for private schools in the rural areas.

Taking the privates out will water down the early playoff rounds and lead to even worse semifinal match ups. Better football comes with the privates in the mix. Just my opinion.

I don't think anybody on here has a problem with private schools or anybody that sends their kids to one. The problem everybody has is that it's too easy to recruit. That's why everybody would like to see all the privates in their own playoffs. Lets ask a question, why do the privates not want to be in their own playoffs and separated from the publics?

Because it would be a level playing field. Those schools seem to have plenty of money. So travel can't be an excuse.

I don't have an issue with separation. It won't make for better football, but it would take away all the excuses when a private has a good season.

After separating privates, lets separate publics with open enrollment. Zoned publics can't compete with them. Perennial quarter final schools will have to find a reason why they get put out.

With the privates removed, WC would have played Jo Burns in the QF round. Leaving the winner to be routed by UC. Both JB and WC have had recent, deserved successes, but neither was a semifinal quality team this year.

I like it the way it is. Again, just my opinion.

I don't know how most kids feel in the small public schools, but my oldest youngun wants the privates right where they are.As far as winning the state at this point, it don't seem to matter, yes several Private schools are better than nearly all the small publics, but  it seems like there will always be a few publics just as good. It won't always be the same team, but you'll always have a couple of strong teams. Grace may be a different animal soon. The other thing that concerns me is we have several privates who could  leave d2 at any time. Privates was definately dominating before the multiplier, We could easily get back to that situation. It  got to the point that a private school was gonna win it all ,the biggest question was ,whitch one. I didn't like those days.

if you want it so bad why not go ahead and jump to D2.  No matter how you spin it the playing field will never be the same between Privates and Rural publics.  open zones or not

I make this point as I have been to several private school campuses.  I have never been to one that did not have superior facilities to the publics anywhere around them.  I don't dislike privates.  Most of them are founded for the right reasons and try and do the right thing.  Yes, I would be figuring out a way for my kids to go to private schools if I lived in a metro area as well.  It is just the fact that the playing filed is not level that gets me.  As far as the open zone publics only benefit they have over closed zone is that they can choose where to go.  Doesn't change their curriculum or their facilities.  Hey its my opinion and this and $1 might buy you a cup of coffee.

biggest lie you guys tell yourselves, a few of the privates have money most are on very tight budgets

I'm sure you know what your talking about with your situation at your school, but I honestly cant imagine ANY private school in chattanooga area having the financial difficulties of a small public school in Hancock county , Greene county , Cocke county , and many of these other small rural counties. I'm tellin ya what our football program here has or gets they have to get on there own. There is ZERO budget from the school, district office , or county. And most of the small rural counties are the same way. There arent nearly the number of people in these counties and most make very little $$, so fund raisers dont make up too much. I would be willing to bet Boyd doesnt have to do a fundraiser every year to have their banquet. Do they have to do a fundraiser every year before they can afford to send their helmets off for reconditioning? Do they have a practice field? home and away stands? Visitor locker room? Weight room? Do your coaches mow , paint and maintain the fields all summer with THEIR money?

Again maybe you do have a smaller budget than some other privates but I gaurantee you dont have it as rough as MOST small rural publics. Remember its small rural publics yall play against in the playoffs!

so we are considering Marion County, Trousdale County, Oneida, and Rockwood as small rural schools who dont have nice facilities because I think they have very nice facilities and those are the schools that we play in the playoffs

    • What we have here is an influx of outsiders raining down on the town of Maryville like a swarm of locust trying to change our culture into the same crap they moved away from. I have no issues with anyone coming here but don't bring your politics with you. Most people around here never pay attention to the elections and keep letting the same ole rats and vermin right back in the back door and wonder why things are like they are. The problem at Maryville High is mainly due to letting outsiders get a foothold on control and shove their agenda down everyone's throat. Anyone that leaves there or let's say ranoff are replaced with an outsider with the same mindset. Eventually Maryville High will never be the same as it once was which I'm beginning to believe already but it's only chance of survival are to recruit people that will get in there and reverse the damage that has already happened.
