As expected, DC's hire today was completely lackluster, and seemingly unexpired. The administration just didn't seem to put very much effort into the search. It seems as if they hired the first person who said they would take the stinking job.

I hope I'm wrong, but Nathaniel (Nate Dog) Kennard seems very likely to be 100% unqualified for the position. I'm not under the impression that we had a long list of suitable, qualified candidates knocking down our doors to come coach here, but still, surely we could of found just one single person with some legit experience at this level.

Nate Dogs resume is very thin. Kennards coaching career began at Hilham Middle School in Overton County as the Boys Basketball Coach from 2003-2010 where he was responsible for all aspects of the boys basketball program involving the 6th and 8th grade teams. During those years, the program won two county championships and had five final four state tournament finishes, compiling an overall record of 100-85.The five final four state appearances is seemingly impressive, but whats up with that overall record?

This past season, ole Nate served as an assistant to Tiger basketball coach Lynus Martin. Before that he done some volunteering at LA on the high school level for 5 years (2010-2015). Everyone knows what all of this "volunteering" means and amounts to though.

Andrew Dixon, DCHS Computer Science and Math teacher, will be an assistant to Kennard.

That middle school record is very misleading. Hilham is one of the smaller schools in Overton county. Competing with livingston, Allons and Rickman for several years is very difficult. For example, they play each twice a year (6 games) plus usually two of those in the county tourney (total of 8), as well as the state tourney which was at least one loss per year. That's 9 losses most years. On a good year you might could win half those games. The record is misleading in a tough area for junior high basketball.

    • I don't believe they have anyone that is surbers caliber but a decent staff overall.

    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
