How do y'all think the Maryville-Fulton game will go this season?

Like I said in my post the people that are carrying these expectations are people that have HEARD not seen but HEARD. Lot of pressure on a sophomore that doesn't have any varsity experience. He will come along just great in time but we have to take his name off the ballot for NFL Hall of Fame at least until he is eligible. The other kid has highs and lows and is a very gifted athlete and got some real good experience playing this year but remember the teams he started against couldn't win their way out of a wet paper bag. The highs are always looked on but the lows such as the interception against Oakland almost changed that game around and you didn't see him in again after that. Not taking anything away but the line will be going through a big rebuilding process with new people at QB.

Austin Ensley played well in State Title game. Threw a TD pass to Bryce Miller then a 2 point conversion.  I think his TD to Int ratio was 19-3. Pretty good if you ask me.  He will get better and better also. I remember people including me was concerned about Nick Myers. All Nick did was play great that year. I never worry about QB's as long as GQ is coaching them.

Having pretty good experience and coaching at the middle school level doesn't hurt either........

Don't forget Derek Hunt. He does a great job with the offense also.

Well that should be enough to go 15-0 again sounds like. Kids read this stuff and get the big head, believe me. When I was at Maryville we beat Oak Ridge in a scrimmage game and the papers had us number 1 in the preseason poles and we thought we couldn't be beat and all we had to do was show up. Wrong , Rule beat the living crap out of us the very first game 30-8 if I remember right because we ate all the bulls### up the papers and grown adults were feeding us because we were your typical teenagers.  Make no mistake Maryville is loaded with the right talent to do it again but GQ will have his hands full trying to bring a few with the bighead out of the clouds. I never want anything to happen like it did when I was there against Rule and Fulton could be setting in the perfect position to make that happen. Remember most of the starters that play for Maryville never play a full game because of the depth and if they were pushed into a full game at the very first of the season in the hot weather anything could happen just like it did to us when I played.

I was at McDonald's two weeks ago and talked to one of the kids that starts and I was really floored by how assured he was by telling me how good they were and what certain adults have fed him and it reminded me of what I said happened back in my day. Sure I know GQ knows how to handle cocky kids but he'll have a double or triple dose of it this year or more than the norm. I know how kids are and sometimes they have to be brought back down to earth but that may be GQ's biggest job this year.

Maryville is on a different level and where any team in east TN would love to be.Fulton has about a good a chance as anyone to compete with the Rebs this year.Probably better then most on the Rebs schedule but I don't see coach Quarles doing anything different or have to pull out trick plays to win.

Thanks pep, it's been a tough preseason (3 scrimmage wins) capped by a loss to alcoa in the jamboree. As anyone who has been a part of the best rivalry in the state knows, we don't want to lose to alcoa in anything - lol. I have been assured the koolaid will be here before friday., Evidently, the bridge over the river has been out.

As for the fulton game, team with the most big plays will win. I predict murvil doesnt kick it deep and plays the safeties extra deep.

I bet there are cocky kids every year. GQ will have them ready.

    • there will be a couple of teams, that could make some noise
    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
