Didn't schedule any games till second week of Dec.Couldn't most play all sports we are a very small school! When I played in the late 80's we didn't schedule BBall games either because of same reason,we were always in the playoffs and can't play Bball without players.LOL.

14 of 15 GB basketball players were in football, correct?

Greenback has certainly made a lot of improvements in baseball since I've been in school. It's certainly a positive because there is too much talent there for them not to be competitive like they were not long ago. I'm glad that they're finding success now though. When Greenback is competitive and playing good in baseball, it certainly helps our district and is good for it. I'm sure we'll be seeing each other when you guys play Harriman in basketball as well as baseball!

. Agree! I'll be the one yelling at and for #22 in round ball!

NCS is a cheater, as is CPA but that's for another page. They hide behind a pathetic loop hole in the financial aid rule. The provide kids with "financial aid" through work programs that are not audited by the TSSAA. They'll get theirs year after next when they have to go DII and play schools that play by the rules when it comes to financial aid. Congrats to GREENBACK and their coaches for a year that should have ended in a gold trophy for your young men.

I give GB all the respect in the world. Great program and great people in the community. Unfortunately, the truth is that had NCS been private this year, the east still would not have won the gold ball this year.

Everyone knows I am not a fan of private schools playing in a public division so this isn't singing praises of a school I usually pull for. I just want to say I was impressed with the way NCS conducted themselves both players and staff. Sure I saw some kids from both sides mouth off or otherwise let their emotions overwhelm them, that's common place now days. What was impressive was more than once I saw an NCS player get in the ear of the offending NCS player and help bring them back to where they need to be. I saw one example of this, and I won't identify their numbers, but an NCS player got involved in some jawing. Two of his teammates on the sideline immediately went to him and talked to him. Later in the game a different NCS player was involved in a minor encounter. Again a teammate went to him, when I looked it was the first player I referred to needing a calm voice in his ear returning the favor to a teammate. Saw several different examples of similar actions as well as help up and head pats of greenback players after plays. Nicely done NCS and GB, it could have easily gotten chippy but in the end both teams maintained Pride, Class and Character. Hats off to both.

Thank you. This means a lot to the boys.

I understand that #50 Silvey will return next year. He did a decent job against our boys Friday, but was hyped up too much. Best lineman in the state? Ok. Wouldn't matter if he was. He needs to learn to control himself on the field if he wants to play on a higher level. He obviously wasn't able to play on ours. There were multiple instances where he should've been thrown out of the game. When you and your team are getting whipped, it is the most cowardly thing to take cheap shots at the other team's QB. That's how I knew it was over... because he already knew. We've seen that behavior from kids all year. Right when you've got them on the ground and step on their throat, everyone knows it... and that's when they start playing dirty... and boy is it fun to watch. We know that he's done things like this before, and he did it Friday. Someone needs to learn that boy a lesson before next year or he'll be kicked out every game. Ridiculous.

Not worth the time to try and explain anything to folks that don't understand that to cheat you have to break a rule. Unfortunately ignorance of the rules plays a big part in how people think. Great season to NCS and Greenback.

Silvey is a good player but not great.  Definitely not a game changer.  More interested in being a cheap shot artist than a football player.  Best lineman in the state?  He wasn't even the best lineman in the game.  NCS nose tackle #56, only a sophomore, is a better player than Silvey and has 8 college offers already.
