private vs public in football final

CAK and Catholic have been the two private schools that have dominated bringing in those type players. Both schools should be playing one class higher and I will say this to be fair that GCA should also be one class higher if things were figured out on the barometer I've been talking about. Alcoa should be two classes higher. Might make some mad at me for saying that but that is what should happen.

I'll say this Barney ,if ole 19 had  of been on Hampton's team. He would have been a superstar. We get a lot more out of a lot less than most places.

Only way to solve the problem is to just give everyone a trophy because even if the privates were all bumped to D2, then it would be open enrollment schools.  After that it would be the metro schools.  Someone is always going to cry.

Here is the best solution.  No state championship for football.  All of the schools divide up into conferences.  Let the schools decide for themselves who they want to play with.  Throw in a few non conference games too.  At the end of an 11 game season, all the conferences give each champion a trophy.  Season over......Move on to round ball.

reitz,

I know your a tca guy and I think both our programs respect each other. but I have to say this, the open zoned argument I suppose was started against aville by privates trying to distract the tssaa from the split. the first time the words "open zoned" were spoke was by private lobbyist to the tssaa voters in a slight of hand move to keep privates where they were as top dog on an uneven field. say what you want about McNairy county and aville but kids have a choice, always have and most likely always will. this in no way is equal to a private school. less than 10 kids from selmer and ramer chose to go to aville and find their own transportation and your argument is that the football program should be punished for that? when some of those guys don't even contribute (some do). the kids that came over from michie have always came over or freely went to mchs. your argument also includes mchs. you guys know them well but they also get just as many students from around the county as aville. I know for a fact and can name names of the top tier athletes they got by choice that fell through the cracks of their system for whatever reason. tca is supposed to be Christ centered athletics right? then why does it matter what division you play in as long as you are leading your kids down the right path? seriously. the answer is it matters because we want to win on an uneven playing field. it would be different if you guys were witnessing to the crowds and handing out tracks at your home games. but your not. I feel super safe in saying that more money was spent by you guys trying to influence the vote over the past 6 months than our progamused for football this year. why don't you guys want to play other privates in d2? and don't use the travel argument, I understand that I want to know the other reasons. why should T$$AA keep letting 20 something govern 200 and something??

The small private schools survive solely on the success of their athletic programs. Group them in a private school division where they can't/or struggle to compete for championships EVERY YEAR and their enrollment ($$$$) plummets. This is why they are so adamant against being moved to D-II. They would suddenly have to compete for athletes amongst the other private schools. Couple of losing seasons and they are left with the kids that are only there for a true Christian learning environment. Hmmm, isn't that supposed to be the mission statement of a "Christian" academy. No athletic success equals a lower enrollment and ultimately the closing of the school. This one up here in the Knoxville area has a "win at all cost" mentality. You just don't get put on post-season probation by playing by the rules. Accidents don't happen......they just got caught. I'm sure they had to invest in a bigger paper shredder after that season. One of their alumni (former volleyball player) came onto a Hampton thread a couple weeks ago calling everybody "sexist pricks". Classy lady there. Carrying the message. They have a serious motive to remain in the public school regions. If they can't, the school collapses. HEY PRIDE.......Chew on this one a while buddy. Greatly appreciate your shots at my kid. Almost as classy as RAMlady. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

All I know is the JuJu Hut is most definitely in the sticks....! :thumb: And it is remotely about five miles from my high school.  You probably couldn't find it with a GPS signal cause sometimes they don't work very well in sparsely populated areas, that have a lot of hills and valleys.  Still....it is paradise if you like the solitude.  Smoke don't bother too many people and it usually just mixes right in with the fog.  We about 50 to 55 miles from much of anything considered urban.  I'm going definitely rural on this one.

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
