Maryville ought to get credit for several of Alcoa championship   just think of how much they appreciated that beat down from the rebels early in the season . made them work harder for the gold ball    just saying   Merry Christmas F5 and our fellow coach friends

Thank Alcoa for that fumble gift wrapped at the goal line. That score would have put Alcoa up 31-21 with 5:00 to go in the 4th qtr. If anything was learned early on, it was Maryville needed to get better on defense and quick. The Maryville defense after the Alcoa game got better every game. It was their defense that made the difference this year, especially in the playoffs.

Alcoa is just the opposite.  Most all the offense comes back, but some big hole to fill on defense.

I have absolutely no doubt about this however in 2018 the 6A State Champions will be the Oakland Patriots.  

Knoxville Catholic, Alcoa, and Oakland could all be early season losses for Maryville in 2018.

Just remember Maryville has a lot of defensive starters back and most of the defensive line alternated with different starters each game and everyone of them are back. The JV team looked pretty good when I went to see them play and it was very obvious there are going to be some talented players fill a lot of positions most of you don't know about. It's called our reload system and that's been going on for 20 years now and don't think it's going to stop anytime soon. Maryville will be back in thick of it again, believe me. Oakland will be the odds on favorite to win it all with what they have coming back but I bet they have to beat Maryville to get there.
