We all know what excuses are for. If we didn't shoot ourselves in the foot it would have been 28-14 and then what

SP had chances last night to ice the game with the ball deep in Whitwell territory. They didn't get it done, but credit Whitwell for stopping us. As for next time? SP better find a way to capitalize on those chances deep in Whitwell territory or the quarterfinals will be the ceiling. Whitwell was close to tying or winning it late.  SP was close to going up 3 touchdowns in the fourth. It could have went either way.

You are correct and I bet Vic is not happy. Not having a real game in a month doesn't help

Legit your are worse than powerp with your mess of excuses and running your yapper.  Grider should have had our boys in prevent defence.  You are full of mess.  You think im joking but im not.

Well said my friend!    It was great meeting you last night.    We were down on the field and to be honest I felt the White ball carrier was short on the 4th and 2 run.    That could of been a fatal play for you guys.   Great job by the defense of coming up huge with the game on the line.

It was great to meet you and Lee as well.

Our whole side thought Whitwell was short on the 4th down attempt.   I was wanting a replay or at least a measurement.  We left some plays out on the field and squandered a couple scoring opportunities but will learn from this and get better and move on from this one.   Just an awesome atmosphere and a fantastic finish to a great game last night.  Folks got their money's worth, that's for sure.

It went the way of the Pirates last night.  We are the Region 3-1A champions.   I for one am glad Whitwell is a tough opponent.  We need to be pushed and tested. We got that last night.  By having another strong team in our region it helps out come playoff time.  This year we will host the quarterfinal and next year we will have the opportunity to host both the quarters and the semis.  We can only accomplish the latter by having the 2 best teams in our region winning their part of the bracket.  It's the same case with Greenback and Coalfield.  We just have to go out and take care of our end of things.

Ifs and buts, candy and nuts, Is that how the saying goes?  The game lived up to exactly what everybody was hoping for and the county was witness to the slugfest. Both teams are able to say “a play here or there and the outcome is different”, but if popular vote ran this country, then Hillary would be our President. (not good). Bottom line is South Pitt made just enough plays to win the game and Whitwell didn’t make enough, and if (here we go again with those “ifs”) both teams can advance past the first two rounds of the playoffs, the rematch has the makings of something as special as last night. And all that means is another great opportunity for the boys on both teams to experience an atmosphere unlike any other and to create memories that will last their lifetimes. Well done both teams!

The starting QB didn't play last night!?

Depends on how you look at.  The original starter was suspended or kicked off for the hazing incident allegedly. Then their starter from last year took over for him from his WR spot.  However, Shrum started against us then Holloway (the QB turned WR turned QB) took over.  Then the 4th quarter they ran the wild tiger to the right behind an unbalanced line and 3 backs in the back field.  They kicked out our CB and turned out DE and LB’s inside which created a lane.  At least that’s how it appeared to me. Either way, Whitwell has 3 capable QB’s and 5 capable RB’s and all are on the field at the same time.

    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
