Catholic is in our Region 4-5A, so with that being said GO......... WILDCATS!!!

If I'm pulling for a "Knoxville area" team it's always gonna be Oak Ridge. Great tradition, great environment with a classy coach, players and fanbase.

Hey Willie, where are you listening to the games at in Hixon/Chatt? On line or radio?

Hoping for an injury free game for both teams and Go Wildcats!

We appreciate that buddy.

Ok, but you said all 5 starters weren't from OR or didn't attend Middle School/Jr High here, so what exactly is your argument? BTW, the best player (argumentatively) in those years was Erin Wilson, a born and raised OR girl. A 2 time Ms. Basketball winner. But still, what does this have to do with OR recruiting in football? That was the main argument, at least I thought.

Jennifer Wilson is who you are thinking of, She currently coaches at Hardin Valley. Super person.

Sorry SS, I didn't see the name thing was cleared up.. My apologies.

Back to Football.....

i have heard a lot about Oak Ridge's great D.  What's their  strength DL or LB/Secondary play?

I would say we are pretty solid in each of those areas with neither one really being above and beyond the other in terms of strength and weakness. Solid all around. With that said this will be our Defenses far and away biggest test of the year. I just hope we can limit big plays.

I leave in Hixson and was listening on a prepradio.com where you click a link that takes you to another website where you download an app for Liberty 97.2 radio station. You download the app to a smart phone and listen to it on your cell phone. I hope that makes sense because I really don't understand it myself.

I would say our playmakers on offense are WR Caleb Martin, WR Kai-Reese Pendergrass, WR Jeremy Mitchell, and WR Jaycen McGhee. Basically the whole WR corps is solid. At RB of course we have Jordan Graham who can take it to the house anytime he touches it, Caelan Thompson, Simpson, and maybe Romano if he makes it back. Pretty much it's RB by committee type of thing. And of course we have QB Johnny Stewart, who is always a threat to run it as well in the spread option attack we run. Basically all of the guys I mentioned are really good players and each can hurt you if given the chance.

To be totally honest with you I wouldn't say either our running game or passing game are that great, although they both have their moments when they can be. OR is a fairly average to good team on offense (just depends on the moment) with really no clear strengths. OR is where they're at because of their defense, no way to get around that. But, we do have some guys on offense who can hurt you if given the chance like I said.

Haven't seen either school this year so I have no idea who should be favored.  I am pulling for Oak Ridge for 'Just Because' I can.

Playing at OR should be worth 7-10 points though just for the tradition and the way their fans support them.  Also the smell from Big Ed's is a help.  If Bounder was cooking ribs it would be a slam dunk for OR!

Good Luck Oak Ridge!

I agree...defense has us where we are along with an offense that does just enough to win...and a solid kicking game. At least that's all true for the last 8 weeks.

So you coached for Coach Burkey's Tennessee Stars then you know the girls that moved in did so legally and did so in order to advance their basketball careers. You have no right to judge them for doing what was best for them. Some of the players that moved in are Barnard, Bible, Stewart and that s all I know of right off the top of my head. Stewart and Bible never played in a State Title game.

You are wrong about OR winning 3 State Titles with five out of town players. Azzi, Caldwell, Dowdell, Wilson, Long, Young and the McGinnis sisters played junior high ball at Robertsville or Jefferson

Now IrishBBall, are you the AAU coach who Burkey brought in to work with the post players? He told me he was very happy with the job you did at that time. If you are the coach I think you are, I watched you work with the girls and you did do a great job.

That would be me. Loved coaching those teams with Coach Burkey. Incredibly talented players from all over the state! Several Lady Vols and other big time programs like Duke, Vandy, Clemson and others signed our girls. Much easier to be a good coach with that kind of talent!

I didn't say they won 3 titles with "out of the city" girls. I count the McGinnis girls as Powell kids since that's where they were from even though they played for Joe Carson. Add Whitley Campbell to your list of transfers. Not all of the girls played for a title but made state tourney runs while there. I also said the transfers were legit and didn't fault any of them for going to a school with a great education system, coaching, college exposure and tradition not to mention yearly trips to Murfreesboro.

My point to the initial "recruiting" theme was that several good programs like Maryville, Alcoa, OR, AC, Fulton and Catholic have kids seek out their programs. It can be done legally and it's not like Catholic is the only team to have kids enter their program as freshmen.

Just a side note...Did y'all know Harrison Smith's parents graduated from ORHS? I work @ the airport and was talking to him when he came through one day. I said, "I watched you play while you were @ Catholic. I wish you had of played for my team in High School." He said..."Where'd you to to school?" I said Oak Ridge, then he began to tell me about how his parents graduated from there and how his grandmother still lives here. He said if he hadn't of went to Catholic he would've went to OR. I thought that was pretty cool.

I knew Steve was from OR. Harrison Smith is a great player that is as hard working and humble as you could find!

    • Wow I haven't been keeping up with softball had no idea.Been keeping up with baseball and we are slowly fading there.I will check it out!!Thx
    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
