Didnt Oak Ridge have a lot coming back?

Yeah, but a whole new OL and QB. It showed. Maryville exposes your weaknesses and they did tonight. We didn't help ourselves with some costly offside penalties that kept drives alive. Missed a few wide open passes that could've been big gains. We have a lot to work on obviously. Maryville makes everybody look bad with the exception of Alcoa.

How can you possibly not be ready to play a scrimmage against a team like Maryville? Unreal. BTW, we beat their freshman team last year. Those same guys from both teams looked like night and day from last year. Their kids looked like they had worked their a-double s's off in the weight room (which I am sure they have) and ours looked like they had been eating little debbies all summer long while playing Xbox. They were throwing our kids around like rag dolls. That was very telling.

Those Sophomores have worked hard, they haven't played well the previous 2 years and if what you say is true they've really improved. That may be our weakest class talent wise outside of 2 skill players. Glad to hear their hard work has paid off and they're playing with a chip on their shoulder.

They sure looked good tonight. Not sure what was wrong with our kids, but it all starts in the off-season workout training. I saw a lot of arm tackling from our Sophomores. Hard to watch.

Yes they do play with a chip on their shoulder. That is all we have heard about them from everyone else out there. But as a parent of 2 of those " weak sophomores" I say get ready because these sophs are gonna take some names. Many of them are going to be playing alot this season.  And btw , there are more than just 2 skill players.

I agree that the tackling (or lack of) was hard to watch. But I would think the offseason training is about the same every year, and we tackled great last year. I’d chalk it up to just a bad tackling night.

Cool your jets. I've known many of these kids and to be fair they haven't had as much success as the classes ahead or behind them. They've come a long way since getting blanked by Alcoa a few years back in 8th grade. Things can change and like I said I'm happy they worked hard to get there.

    • Wanted to see if all of you would lift up Kyle James family in prayer. Kyle was one of the best wrestlers to ever come out of Soddy Daisy and as some of you know he lost his house a few weeks ago and now his family and friends mourns his passing. Not sure if any of you were around in early 2000’s when Kyle was wrestling at Soddy, but he was a 3 time state champ and a Fargo AA along with going to Colorado to train to make the Olympic team. That goal was never reached due to medical issues, but he was an amazing wrestler and his family is as good as gold. If you were around at that time and have any pictures of Kyle, please go onto Alexy Winesburgh FB page and post. Thanks, Doug Benton
    • My opinion the 8 teams will be-  Greenback, Wartburg, Gordonsville, Jo Byrns, Eagleville, Bruceton, Dresden, and South Fulton. Gordonsviile is probably the favorite but I wont say it will be an easy road. With the right draw any of the 8 could win it.
    • I understand Gibson Co. will be announced tomorrow with a familiar name. Not sure about So. Gibson.
    • A huge addition to the staff today! Former Hardin Valley legend and Richmond College running back Aaron Dykes was announced as the running backs coach. Rushed for over 3,000 yards at HVA, with 35 total touchdowns. I loved watching in Hardin Valley. I can’t believe he’s at Bearden now. I know he was trying to get a HVA job, I don’t know what happened there and how he ended up at Bearden, but I'm glad he’s here and believe he will be teaching art class as well! What a good get for the staff!!
    • Thoughts? Gordonsville won it last year with a sophomore pitcher and returned almost everybody. Can anyone beat them?
