This is a battle of two undefeated clubs. One club is use to winning and the other one is making a rare appearance in this semifinal game. I will be gracing all of you people in Whitwell with my presence this week. I have been out of town at several speaking engagements around the state this season. I saw these young lads from Whitwell during the annual Sequatchie Valley Jamboree at my once proud alma mater. I noticed several young lads that night and have kept a close eye on them this season. A win tomorrow night against the young lads from Greenback would award instant legend status to several of these young lads wearing the red and white. #31, #15, #20, #3, #4, and #7 all are fine young lads that are close to achieving legend status. Whitwell also has a young lad walking the sideline that has done a fine job this season directing this club. Make no mistake, Whitwell has a good club and will be a tough contest for the young lads at Greenback. It will do many of you people a lot of good to simply breathe some of the same air that a legend like myself breathes in order to gain an infinite amount of knowledge from a true living legend. I am also hopeful that Sportman will show up for this contest so he too can be around a legend like myself. Sportman, if you are able to come to this game to watch these young lads, I am hopeful that you will bow down once again. It doesn't go unnoticed by my many, many followers.  My entourage should be arriving in Whitwell around 6:00 Friday night. I would like to thank the Marion County sheriffs department for providing me an escort to the stadium. These young lads always take care of a legend like myself when I decide to grace you people with my presence. I should be on the track area in front of the home stands signing autographs by 6:15. Rest assured, I would like to sign as many as possible, but there is only so much a legend like myself can do in one night. I would also like to say a special thanks to the doctor I have spoken with in Whitwell that has set me up in the press box tomorrow night. A legend such as myself can't simply set with you people during the entire game. I have tried that in the past, but it is simply unfair because you people rarely pay attention to the game because you are usually watching me evaluate the young lads throughout the game.  It is my hope that several young lads achieve legend status in Whitwell tomorrow night when these two clubs go to battle. I hope everyone has a safe drive to the game. Hopefully the young lads from Greenback have a nice drive down the valley for this game. I believe the young lads at Whitwell should take this game tomorrow night and get one step closer to that elusive state championship. Always remember achieving legend status is a choice!

I've been thinking a lot about this game. Imo I still think greenback is the better overall team. They can match whitwell at every position and have the better coaching. I noticed where someone said that they beat SP on talent alone and I think that is exactly right. This week they will be matched on the talent level,if not a little behind greenback.    I do think whitwells athletes will keep them in the ball game and if it rains I think it benefits whitwell.   I still think greenback pulls away and takes this one by 2 or 3 scores.  Good luck to both teams!

Valley weather lol I’m telling you don’t underestimate it

I've seen it storm in SP with 2 inches of rain and not rain in Kimball 3 miles away.  Also Whitwell and Dunlap are in an area up there where that weather does some crazy things. Those mountains control alot. Just be prepared is all I was actually tryng to tell those GB people.

Two great teams meet tonight. Both undefeated. Something has got to give. Who will be the one that will go on to possibly win the class a state championship next week and who will be the one when they lay down tonight still thinking about this stinging loss?  High emotions right now for both team's and I envy the fan's from both school's bc there's no other feeling like your feeling now. Enjoy it while you can and seize the moment and cheer your team on like you have never before bc this may be the last time you see them play.

Willy I think the rain actually helps GB. I don't see Whitwell being able to win if they're one dimensional, I think rain hurts Whitwells deep ball. GB has a lot of short pass game and I have saw them continue to be effective with it even in sloppy conditions. If it's wet I think Whitwell gets to run heavy and GB will tee off on that. Deep ball passing on a sloppy track is a hard row to hoe for anyone. Time'll tell.

Whitwell has the ability to sling the ball short as well.  Their qb has all the tools to help lead his team.

Yea after thinking about it I agree with you. Actually no matter what the conditions the edge goes to greenback lol

I know they can but I don't think their short game will be affective. I think the deep ball is the key for whitwell to stay score for score tonight. If they can hit one here and there the run will come easier. If they decide to hang their hat on the run I don't see much success in that.

I think Whitwell will shock the world tonight. Greenback is overrated.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
