I don’t ever provide much analysis. Roy and Old Pirate always do that stuff.  The Pirates have a lot of work to do if they want a chance at Greenback the day after Thanksgiving. How’s that?

So you provide analysis on other teams but not the pirates? I mean we have heard at least 100 times how good greenback will be.   If you dont think our pirates are very good just be honest.....we can handle it.

Now now no need in putting words in my mouth little man. I’ve never once said the Pirates weren’t a good team this season. I gave my opinion. They need to get much better if they want a shot at a gold ball.

You talked around every question that someone ask you.  What is your analysis of the 2019 South Pittsburg Pirates? How far do you project SP to go this year?   What is your overall opinion of this years team?

I expect this the be the best team since 2011. Does that mean it will be? Absolutely not.. I expect them to be playing the day after Thanksgiving at Greenback though.  With a little look they have a shot at playing for a gold ball, but so does Greenback. 7-8 months ago I would have said SP will be in Cookeville, but the new editions at Greenback have tilted the scales now. Fair or not the former Maryville QB will make a HUGE difference this year for that bunch. Without him on the roster SP was my favorite, but seniors like him, Willis, and Bailey simply aren’t seen often in 1A football.

    • I think Alcoa and Westview are favorites in top bracket and Huntingdon and Meigs in bottom bracket.  Westview and Huntingdon both have great pitching.  I think Huntingdon has more offense than Westview.
    • Starting to pick up for Sam. He has 4 or 5 offers now and more on the way. By mid season the Warriors should have 5 or 6 kids with offers.
    • Gleason all over west Carroll in scrimmage. Gleason is big and fast
    • Defending 2A state Champs Westview Lady Chargers are pretty tough. They lost a bunch of production off last year's squad but returned some talent as well. They still McCall Simms, a Tennesseee Lady Vol softball commit as well as solid talent around the diamond. I dont think they are as good as last season but they will definitely be a tough out. Huntingdon Lady Mustangs seem to be pretty stout as well. Don't know much about Riverside other than Westview defeated them earlier in regions. West Tennessee softball is pretty solid all around id say.
    • Eagleville couldn’t catch up to Jones, he did have his location issues but in that game Eagleville popped up everything and the one hit they did have could have been ruled an error. Jeffcoat was a lot sharper in the beginning of the season last year than the end. ER ran out of pitching and still was in striking distance but none the less the better team one. Last seasons tournament was A LOT more balanced and talented. South Pitts starter is a Lefty who was low 80’s but couldn’t maintain his velo throughout the  outing, their #2 was more impressive last year, we knocked him around this year and his mph was down some. Their #3 isn’t bad neither, throws a lot of strikes and sits high 70’s.
