South Pittsburg vs Sequatchie (Grider against this Wattenburger man)

Old Pirate says the Pirate offense was simply terrible the first half, holding, fumble, holding, fumble, holding, fumble, holding then throw in busted plays! Obvious some did not know the play called with the Captain having to call time outs. The Indians were not able to get much yardage but capitalized on Pirate errors. A better team would have buried the Pirates in the 1st 2 quarters. Old Pittsburg says The Captain seems to have too many tools in the tool shed. There will be growing pains yet to come until the proper tools are identified. OP was impressed with the power straight at you attack in the 2nd half. Congrats to the Pirates fer finding enough gunpowder to get the “W”

Tough start for SC even with some out for SP. Several new OL, 3/4 running backs getting first real playing time, QB in his first start, sophomore saw just end of game time last year. Offense will improve as it goes on, defense shouldn’t be on the field as much as it was in the second half. Hosting Jasper next week.

Old Pirate thought the Indians showed toughness and showed sportsmanship. Respect earned, hope the players realize it.

Well, we definitely missed 2 of our 3 best players in the first half. We came out dead and flat. Nothing went right.

second half we played good ball.

highlights: Miles Walters kicking off and making teams start inside the 20 is huge.

JJ Beene and Brydon Mabry has a good game at lb

This in and of itself is what changed the momentum and tempo of the game.  Making Sequatchie start inside their 15 twice and at the 20 on 3 consecutive kickoffs was huge. We flipped the field on them, got a turnover, cut out the penalties and hung on to the ball.

I hope this gets back to Sequatchie players and coaches.  SC’s first half style offense has always given the Pirates fits no matter what team runs it.  They got away from their game at times with trying to pass when simply they could have ran it every play.  On defense, they are tough, real tough.  I’m not sure what grade their LB’s #53 and #4 are but they played lights out.  #53 needs to be recognized.  He terrorized us all night.  #10 had a great game in the secondary too.  One thing the Pirates had over SC in my opinion was conditioning.  Other than a couple cramps, SP never ever leaned over or put their hands on their hips.  However the entire SC team started it in the 3rd quarter.  To be that’s a big takeaway.

Keep your heads up SC and you will definitely be playing in November.

The deep kicks as well as the two hits at the 15 on his kicks that got everyone fired up help to change the course of the game. His "short" kick went to the 17 which was normally a deep kick for us.

Sailor man if that man down there in the orange shirt had put more air in Griders balls it would have went past the 17 yard line.  Grider needs to have a pump out there to pump his balls up on the sideline.  You think im joking but im not.

    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
