Not so fast my friend!!!!

So, your telling me you are coaching at Maryville, but worried about Blount County/ Heritage Athletes???

You want Hammontree to stay leader so you all keep getting kids down that direction. Sounds about right.

Recruiting at it finest. I give you all a thumbs up and credit for sure. Been in the making but, I’m just glad people are starting to get exposed in the county.

I’ll hang up and listen

You finally figured out the Maryville secret. We want Hammontree and Shad to stay at their schools so all the talent will jump ship and head to Maryville. Well done on exposing us.

Heritage is on the last leg. I think they are on life support and need to go ahead pull the plug.
do what white county did. Pull out of playoffs and schedule teams that you can compete with.

Your 100% right, they are on their last leg. To see a 1A school have to drop football because they couldn't get kids out is one thing but for a 6A school to have to drop football would be another matter. This should be an example to the TSSAA that enrolment isn't always the true measuring stick and I don't mean drop them down a class because I seriously don't think they could break the .500 mark in 2A and that is pretty bad.  It's no secret that most city schools outside metropolitan areas are well funded and supported and most county schools aren't because their in last place in the food chain. Until the TSSAA decides to set down and sort this out right we're living in the generation where programs will cease to exist.

In California they class schools according to how they can compete Heritage would be moved down and Alcoa would be moved up. As well as Greenback.

Just use Sonny Moore's Power Rankings and you would be a heck of a lot better off than what we have now. Take his rankings and divide it by 6 and there you go.

It's absurd that Tn has 9 state champions.   We have more classifications than California, Texas, and Florida.  It's ridiculous and it's schools like Heritage that pay the price.  They need to do what White Co. and Union Co. did.  Schedule somebody they can compete with, they have absolutely no shot in the 6A playoffs anyway.

While I believe that there needs to be changes to the TSSAA football classifications, I would NEVER use California as an example of what we need to do in Tennessee (about anything)!

Heritage and William Blount are prime examples of why consolidating several smaller schools is always a bad idea.  These schools would be much better off if they were broken up into 2-3 2/3A schools each.  Learning outcomes are empirically proven to be better in smaller schools (below 800) as well, but heck what do I know...

    • Won't happen. College coaches will back the coach every time and it cost this young lady her senior season. Looks like the player may be right on this one. School let her  go after one season. This stuff happens more than you think.
    • “No college is going to offer a scholarship to a player that is kicked off of the team.” For language? I’m not seeing that as a dealbreaker.
    • Why did the coach get rehired after she was let go as an assistant by the former Warren County coach and the current AD?? Is that accurate?? I am very familiar with situations like this. Suprised lawsuits haven't happend before. If the coach unfairly let the player go, I think she has a shot because it cost her a scholarship. No college is going to offer a scholarship to a player that is kicked off of the team. Not going to happen. There are bad hires like this a bunch and kids are treated unfairly by coaches that can't coach a lick and have super long ropes somehow. Amazing how some of these coaches get hired and keep their job.
    • I am going to assume you are not a lawyer, and most reasonable lawyers would not say the lawsuit has a zero percent chance in court. I agree with you that a coach has the ability to dismiss anyone from a team. However, Ms. Winfree was never presented with the opportunity to present her witnesses and have them tell the coaches and administrators what they heard. A lawyer could better explain the lawsuit and the grounds to you. Before you start making wild assumptions about the lawsuit, would it be too much to ask that you do a little legal research first? The lawsuit is dealing with due process, loss of property, and defamation.   You can read the lawsuit here: https://bdnewsletter.files.wordpress.com/2024/04/doc-1-complaint-filed-4-18-2024.pdf
    • The administration took the path of backing the coach and whispering to people that the kid was a problem. The reality is that the kid was never a problem on a team or classroom. The player says she has witnessed who back her not saying the f-word.  Why did the coach make that story up and other stories? I am not Sigmund Freud and do not have an answer for the ex=-coach's behavior..
