If you’re a voter you should go out and watch players first hand and not rely on what other people think. You have name, number, school, stats, and position. Always heard that grades character and what kind person they are has as much to do with winning the award as what they did on the field and you didn’t even mention that.

#6 Braden Carnes Greenback. Hands down the best player in single A. Kid came from the best high school program in the state of Tennessee to one of smallest schools and is on pace for 40 touchdowns and 3,000 yards passing. Watch throws he makes. It's not normal for 1A.

Would be my vote as well.

Peabody Jarel Dickson  running back  #4

all around great kid has helped lead Peabody since his sophomore year. I don’t have stats but his stats reflect splitting reps with 3 other people running and only playing a quarter or 2 per with only a few 4 quarter games. I think he still for over 1200 yards last year. I left put he has good grades and is committed to army.

Peabody Cooper Baugus quarter back  #3

he has been at qb since sophomore year all around great kid. Dual threat qb throws and run for a touchdown in about every game. MVP of 2a championship game last year. I think he has rushed and thrown for close to thousand every year.

im sorry guys but I don’t have stats. Even if I did stats can be deceiving

If Peabody QB Cooper Baugus #3 or Jarel Dickson RB/LB #4 don’t get some kind of vote then I’ve lost all hope. Baugus is more than just a QB. That kid is the leader of that Peabody team. State championship MVP, like you said he has rushed & thrown over 1,000 yards a piece each year. If I’m not mistaken, I think the kid has like a 70% completion percentage this year & has only turned the ball over once. Been a 3 year starter that has taken Peabody to a deep playoff run in 2017 & won the gold ball last year & looking to repeat this year. Dickson is an Army commit that hardly ever comes off the field playing both ways & can bust a game wide open at any given moment. Both of those guys are deserving of at least being a finalist.

Holden Willis 1085 yards

Through 8 games

18 touchdowns

Averages 26.5 catch

Great leader on and off the field. You will find him coaching up the younger kids on there technics and encouraging them. He is a great Christiant kid also that lives for the Lord. I’ve enjoyed watching the Cherokees this year. They can put on a show!!

Great talent and player. But, if Carnes didn't transfer to Greenback would he have these numbers? I don't think so. That's why I have Carnes winning it because he is so important to Greenback.

Maybe so but I will say this just in the Lenoir City game Holden touched the ball 5 times and 4 went for touchdowns. And they were contested once in the game he ran over 3 to get a touchdown. He is a physical WR that will flat run over you than run past you.

What Willis does with the ball is unbelievable at times just ask Meigs,Oneida,LC etc, etc.Catch a WR screen and go 70 yards THRU defenders not around and one of if not THE BEST blocking WR in TN and the most dynsmic players on the field each Fri night.Carnes is a talent no doubt and an excellent QB.These TWO young men will both be finalists and i would hate to be the one making the choice!

Carnes is #46 in the COUNTRY

Willis is #14 in the COUNTRY

What else can be said, great kids off the field also.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
