Congratulations on the hire.  Solid choice but I was a little surprised he was a candidate.  But a very solid hire.

What makes this a solid hire GWave? Shelbyville Football is about to go into the gutter from what I have heard from sources.

Check your sources! The boys and administration are doing great. The main task now will be the boys buying in. From what I have seen Puckett will have no problem getting that done.

About to go in the gutter? Based on what? You have no sources...just made up nonsense! Stay off here if you choose to post a bunch of junk and/or have hurt feelings. Your post makes zero sense and is a lie. Sad.

The guy just won a Gold Ball.

Anybody can win at lake county..... who hasn’t at least gone to the quarters there in the last 25 years....

quarters is as far as Shelbyville has ever gone as far as I know ....not a football town yet (could be but not just yet) - time will tell if he won at Lake county cause of talent or coaching .... it’s usually takes both but lake county ALWAYS has a lot of speed (especially for a 1 A)

5A not so much..... takes MORE than talent at 5 & 6a

good luck to him and his staff!!

You and your sources are clueless. If you can win at a high level at Lake County in football and baseball then you are a solid coach.

You should crawl back into the ditch where you came from with that take.

Are you implying that coaching is "better" in 5A and 6A?

No I am implying that it takes both talent and coaching to win in 5 and 6 A ball.... you must have both - some smaller A schools win with talent alone some with coaching - can’t get away with that at a big school - relax dude

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say they have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
