Motion fails.  Dead period stays in place

Is there anything more TSSAA than this?! Let’s have 12 members vote for things so there can be a tie and we stay status quo. Let’s not have any tiebreaker system with the director casting a tie breaking vote. Let’s just be vanilla. Yay! Great job, fantastic meeting, yay team! Back to being a less than mediocre organization with no true leadership.

exactly, how hard would it be to have an odd number of people on the board so there are no ties.  I mean couldn't we say it passed 6-6 as well.

Trader it’s ok. Maybe we can get a board with 4 D1 members. 4 D2 members. 4 open enrollment members. Then let’s have 1 small rural are member for the tie breaker. Then maybe something will get done. Oh wait that won’t work because everyone has to have their own division. So let’s have 1 D1A , 1 D1AA, 1 D1AAA, 1 D1AAAA, 1 D1AAAAA, 1 D1AAAAAA, 1 D2A, 1 D2AA, 1 D2AAA, 1 D1 rural, 1 D1 Metro, 1 open enrollment person. Then have little Johnny mom be the tie breaker. Man always someone is butt hurt. Hope all is well on the Hill.

We're doing well BigEd, just ready to get back to normal (like we ever were?). I've got a better idea for the Board...how about 12 members who aren't afraid to just do what they really feel is best for the kids and member schools? Feels like we've been in "dead period" for a couple of months now already, and as soon as our coaches get started with their teams, here comes dead period again. Oh well, at least everyone has the same set of rules to follow... guess that's an improvement.

Don't get to upset with dead period happening. Get upset when no season happens. I hope this does not happen, but workouts with the restrictions does not guarantee a season. Sports most likely to be cancelled are football, basketball, and wrestling. School systems have not yet decided how the school day will be.

The thing is - with the Dead Period remaining - IF there are any kids on teams that should contract the virus, the dead period will give everyone a two week break to hopefully let everything calm down, reduce the spread, and allow the whole team to start / resume activity starting July 6th.  Now, I know that is all under the assumption that kids and adults will do what they are supposed to and practice social distancing, etc

Or, they go on vacation at the beach and they bring the virus back to the team on July 6th.

Congrats on having a young lady from Scotts Hill be selected as state Vice President for FFA. I hear she is an exceptional young person.

As of yesterday, things looked quite hopeful that there will be a season.

Now, how many fans are allowed in the stands is a a complete unknown, but I am feeling good that there will be football played at every level, at least locally.

    • I coach 3 sports in HS and can tell you that basketball is NOT the most time consuming. I'm not saying it doesn't take a lot of time but between basketball, baseball and football it isn't the most time consuming.
    • While I appreciate being credited with multiple accounts, I have to say that is not true. Will you please report back to your people that I am not someone who provides sharp, witty banter, but rather someone who is putting the shoe on the other foot for some people that have been repeatedly bashing others here and in real life for the past few years? Everything that I have stated has been backed by factual evidence or public record, so no need to be sharp and witty.
    • Yes this process is moving slower than I would have expected
    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
