I wouldn’t sleep on Brentwood. This game could be decided by a touchdown.

All the respect in the world for them. However, may not ever be a easier path to a 6A title game than what Brentwood got. This team wouldn't win a road game at Whitehaven. I do think Brentwood puts up a fight and makes it competitive for a little bit, but even without Stephenson, Oakland has just too many weapons for Brentwood to keep up

No.  It was Brentwood's homecoming.    Usually fires up the Oakland players a little more when that happens.   Brentwood did the same thing in 2014 and the same result.   Go Patriots!!

Well, I'd prefer the 2020 result bc we had to pull a rabbit out of our hat to win in 2014......

i’ll put my life savings on both of those. oakland by 10 and over 54 are both all but guaranteed

The over may be about right but Oakland only winning by 10?  You would put your life savings on that?  How much ya got?  Maybe I can retire early.  Stay off of Fanduel Sportsbook.   You ain't good at it lol.

I know that Brentwood has a chance simply because they made it there and are a good team but quite frankly there are lots of good 6A teams but only about 2 or 3 that are great and Oakland is one of them.  Oakland and Brentwood are on different levels and the two levels aren't really that close.

LOL what the actual. i don’t think you know how this works hahahaha :roflol:

if the line is Oakland by 10, that means Oakland -10/Brentwood +10. taking a team -10 doesn’t mean you're betting on them to win by exactly 10...haha it means you’re taking them to give up 10 and still win. It means you’re taking them to win by more than 10 LOL i think YOU are the one who needs to stay off the sports book:roflol:

also just a side note, i said 47-21 Oakland as my prediction. doing a wee bit of research would’ve shown you that and well, all of this too lol.

I do quite well on Sportsbook actually.   You just said Oakland would win by 10.  Not that they would by AT LEAST 10.  That's why I thought you were wrong. Yeah, I  would take Oakland -10 all day long.   And the over.

I think Oakland wins fairly big but some of these comments are a little off in my opinion. Midtn you said there might not have been an easier path to this game than Brentwood. How exactly was Oakland's path more difficult? I know Oakland played Maryville and all the respect to them but who else did Oakland really play that was tougher than Brentwoods competition? And you said Brentwood wouldnt win a road game at Whitehaven. Why is their name even brought up when they didn't play at all?

I also think you really cant look at the regular season meeting as a basis for this game. Give Crawford a little respect and his ability to come up with a better game plan given more time to prepare. Afterall, there was a time when he was nearly Oakland's head coach.

Glad we have made it this far to even be having this game and this conversation.

I think Riverdale would fare just as well given the chance. I think at the very least, Whitehaven should be acknowledged, if Oakland or Maryville made it to the title game without facing the other, I have no doubt it would be brought up. Yes we dont know how the season would unfold, but their history tells me it would have been a near certainty that they would have been in Bartlett's place.

I have all the respect in the world for Ron Crawford. One of the best coaches in the state full stop. Anyone that could been Riverdale at the height of their dominance has got my respect. I do think they'll fare significantly better this time around. Facing Oakland with almost no prep time is straight out of a football coach's nightmare. That said, Oakland had the same amount of time to prepare and made Brentwood look like a jv squad.

History has shown the winner of Oakland- Maryville has had to guard against a letdown and this will be no different. If Oakland doesn't give Brentwood their full attention, they can absolutely win this game. If Oakland brings the same amount of intensity and execution to this game as they did friday, it would take a near miracle for Brentwood to win.

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
