Knox rule and I'd like to hear more about  south Harriman high school.  Ofc you got all the older Blount County  schools top Everett, Friendsville, walland,Wallander, Townsend

Lanier and Porter. Porter eventually was consolidated into Heritage, but two years later than Walland, Townsend and Everett. They actually played Heritage in basketball before joining them two seasons later.

If you look at a zip code map. William Blount High school is right on the edge of the Friendsville zip code boundary. I think they told the post office they wanted a Maryville zip code so as not to anger the Lanier folks.

Never  knew that about  Porter.  I know  where  the other ones were  but what areas did porter and Everett  cover?

Everett had kids from all over the county. Back then, if you could get there, you could go there. Mostly the donut around the twin cities of Maryville/Alcoa was their main area.  Porter was out in Wildwood. There are still schools at all of these old Blount County locations, even Everett which is inside the city of Maryville.

Porter is doing a great job with the young kids!

I always wondered  why chatt city started  shrinking in the 80s and 90s going down to just single a ball in the  end  anyone know  the story behind that one?

Yes, sir. For whatever reason(s), the Chattanooga School Board changed them from a regular high school to a specialty type school, which killed their athletic program. They eventually closed the school. They have done the same thing to Tyner in Chattanooga, which is why they can no longer compete. BTW, during my first go around at Chattooga in the 80’s we played Chatt City a home and home series in basketball one year.

    • No reasonable lawyer would take up this case. I am not a lawyer, but I know school law in and out.  Similar situations just like this play out thousands of times each year across the country, even at the college level (i.e. Ole Miss)  The Plaintiff's never win...ever.  If I am wrong, please provide a legal precedent for me. I will be waiting.  https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39431892/judge-drops-ole-miss-player-lawsuit-lane-kiffin
    • Yes Justin Cruse was named head coach
    • It used to be, I think it still is, a change of 20% +/- gives reason to reclassify. Schools can choose to play up classifications but not down. Here is the mid cycle reclassification info on TSSAA.org When Memphis East changed from a regular public school to an "all-optional" school in 2017 the would've dropped to A but chose to stay in AAA in basketball (baseball, and softball) Penny was still coaching there and with the players they had they would've beaten A teams by 40 and slept walked to the championship. Other Memphis schools stayed in their classifications (mostly in basketball) until the next reclassification cycle. Of course this is the same time that a 4th class was added basketball.
