This is more exciting than NFL draft hope we hire right person - Summertown deserves & desires the right person - doesn’t have to be lifetime hire but one that makes more than 3 year stint

The right person probably needs to be a traditionalists. The gym is one of the coolest gyms in the state but not the greatest facilities to continue to win at the highest level. Plus they are moving to 2A.

New Gym ( and campus ) have been on drawing board - other things seem to be more important

What is gym capacity?

Old gym around 1000 / new gym they want keep certain aspects of old gym only much larger : auxiliary gym out of question just hoping new ONE gets built - Lawrence Co great place to live but short on funds especially for north end of county

One of the most impressive things about Summertown’s success in basketball (boys and girls), baseball, softball, volleyball is they’ve done it with terrible facilities.
The gym is a fantastic place to watch a game but it’s the only gym on campus (4 goals total).  It has to be shared by both HS basketball team, both MS basketball teams and HS and MS volleyball. The gym, in my opinion, is also a dangerous place to practice basketball. There is about 18 inches between the sidelines and the walls. They’ve had a couple of serious injuries during games in the last couple years - serious as in neck injuries requiring Lifeflight.
Summertown has been incredibly successful anyway, which speaks to the quality of their kids and their coaches.

Sounds like the gym may be ready to become a basketball museum and sounds like it is time for investment to maintain their success.

I would put Gibson County’s facilities up against anyone’s in the state. Big time facilities.

Did they build a new one since 2018.  Cleveland High School has the best facility and considered one of the top ten in the country for high school.

Gibson County built an auxiliary gym that has two floors  with clocks all over and has goals hanging everywhere, 5 or 6 shooting guns, has weight rooms, laundry rooms, meeting rooms, bath rooms in auxiliary and has a sunken in gym in the main that holds a bunch, don’t know exactly but has a walking track all the way around it with goals hanging every where. Hadn’t seen Cleveland but wouldn’t trade and would never trade because of our main gym. Gibson County and West TN  plays a ton of basketball on these floors.

Love watching games in y’all’s gym. Great basketball atmosphere!
