Why do think they did that? Gate money? Outside of the gate there is no reason to play  Maryville.

And like I said in an earlier post in this thread, there's nothing wrong with that.  Got to pay the bills.  High School football is an expensive proposition.  

Doesn't matter why.  Heritage could have tried to play somebody not as good, but they didn't.  Plus Maryville catches a break not having to travel to an Oakland or DB type program for a non region game.  Maryville's non region schedule this year is already pretty danged good as is. 

I see it as a win/win for both schools, no matter what the reasons.

Other than Alcoa what not region games will be tough?  In truth the region schedule for Maryville is not very difficult most years.

Powell and Knoxville West are both legit pre season top 5 caliber in 5A and both loaded with kids who have multiple Power 5 and other D1 offers.  

Plus Science Hill is no slouch, either.
