With week one in the books, who's overrated, overhyped, media darlings, etc. ?

Week 1 isn't in the books yet. Greeneville v Central is tomorrow.

As usual Science Hill is way over rated.  If the Hilltoppers had to play in a region of Rutherford County or Williamson County teams they would finish near the bottom.  They are a long way from being able to compete with the best teams in Tennessee.

I get where you are coming from but disagree. As the season rolls along a lot of young talent will step forward. At least I HOPE so.

Overrated - Science Hill...of course, it could still be their best team in many years, but that wouldn't really be saying much.

Real Deal:

* Alcoa - No surprise they won, but they brutalized a good Rhea Co program.

* Anderson Co. - Really good team who just ran out of gas.

* Elizabethton - I watched their junior and senior class when they were at TA Dugger and they crushed Robinson's teams. These guys are really good.

* Greeneville - Saw them against  West Ridge and Central. They have a ridiculous amount of speed and a really good passing game. They may throw for 600 yards against Dobyns-Bennett.

* Murville - Same as ever.

* Powell - Very talented team who gets the ultimate test in East TN this week.

 

Better than expected?

* West Ridge - Yeah, it was hapless Volunteer, but still...

I think Milan would be in as a the “Media Darling” team.

Milan had 2 turnovers, five 15 yard penalties (should’ve been 7), they allowed a kickoff return for a touchdown, and had another one to the opposing 5. They should’ve defeated Peabody, but didn’t. 
 

Teams that are overhyped: Westview (the verdict is still out on the Chargers),  Hardin County (based off Friday’s win over North Side, they’re going to live and die by Pope (who had 4 TD’s). And Kirby (I don’t know if they have the offense to keep up with Fayette-Ware. Fayette Ware put 47 on the board against Chester County, which isn’t saying much either.

Teams with a lot of work: Henry County, Lake County, Lexington, and Independence. All signs are showing that Independence needs to make a QB change.

Lake County does need work with a very young team.  They have OC this week then Trenton at home followed by a trip to Haywood.

That is some good analysis.    West Ridge may surprise us all and end up a pretty good program

The should.  Combining 3 schools, and schools that weren't all chopped liver in their own classifications.

It looked like we were a little over hyped after the Fairview game but I think we are going to be better than last year. I hope it’s more of first game or playing down to competition but we will soon find out.
