You lost all credibility having Maryville at 5.  The only team that has beaten them on this list in the last 10 years was Alcoa in 2018.  Tell me the last time Maryville has lost to one of the other teams, I'll hang up and listen :popcorneater:

The last time I can remember West, Powell, or Anderson County beating us it was in the late 90's. The last time they lost to any Knoxville team at all was in 2001 against Halls I believe.

You are correct, and that was the last Murvl region loss, as well.

Ironically Murvl started 0-4 with some early season adversity,  then won 11 straight and a 4A stste championship.

Couple of points

1. Maryville at 5? Come on
2. West ahead of Maryville, Alcoa, and Powell? West lost to all 3 last year.
3. There’s no way Carter is in the top 10 in the area.
4. Bearden already on probation 2 weeks into summer practice? Over under they have to forfeit 2 wins this season?

2. Alcoa

3. West

4. Powell

5. Anderson Co

6. Knox Central

7. Catholic

I’d probably put Fulton 11th. Carter 12th

It was 2000 that y’all are thinking about, not 2001. That year Maryville only lost to Morristown West in the regular season. A loss that they avenged in the playoffs.

Based on the last 20 years or so....

1.   Maryville

2.   Alcoa

3-10..    Everybody else ....

Pretty much accurate.

And as Stars and I were ciphering about on that wireless talking box thing this morning, I think you can put Powell at #3 based on who they return, which is pretty much every skill player and some key defensive guys.  Additions are going to bolster them up front.  Be really surprised if anybody in 5A can give them issues.

And speaking of 5A, I see West as the next best team on this side of the state.  Central is going to take a step backwards, in my opinion.

In 4A the best team in the Knoxville area will be AC, by far.  They are loaded with skill players and have enough up front to be a really dangerous team.  That Powell/AC game may see more points scored than did last year's game.

And of course, Greeneville and Elizabethton will be at the top of 4A state wide along with AC.  And I see South Doyle taking a step back in 4A, as well.

    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
