Unfortunately kids transferring for athletic purposes happens much more frequently than kids transferring for academics.

yes, kids do transfer but im trying to imagine dilfer trying to wrap up one job, move to another state, start a new job and taking time to make a call to undercut his old program.  not only does that not sound likely, it doesn't sound like him.

If they are kids he wants at UAB later, it would make sense to have them close by.

There any truth to this? How does families literally just up and move their kids for football or sports in general? I understand the education part of it but most do it for all the wrong reasons. If I could send my kids to Baylor, McCallie or GPS for the education then sure I’m all for it but just to move for athletics is absurd to me.

I know it’s my word and you don’t know me, but know I have no dog in the fight nor any ill will towards Lipscomb whatsoever. Amazing football team.

I know from an incredibly reliable source that he called Hoover last Monday or Tuesday and gave the rec’s. Believe it or don’t. All the same but thought it was interesting that Hoover being 15 minutes away from UAB will more than likely have a few ex-Lipscomb guys next year.

It does make sense. I guess we'll know for sure if/when some ex-Lipscomb guys end up at Hoover next year. He has already started offering scholarships to some of his former Lipscomb players so I wouldn't doubt it at all.

I appreciate the response and I believe you.  it will all work out one way or another!

Why in the world would they need to be close by.  Make no sense.  Trent will have his hands full building the UAB program.

He knows they will continue to get better coaching there while he does not know what they will get going forward at LA

talk about a reach.....

You think college coaches are that concerned about the coaching their recruits are getting in high school.  And how does Trent know about the inner workings of Hoover?  Maybe Thompson, since he played them, but Hoover?  You guys are something else to believe that one of the first things Trent did after leaving Lipscomb is to call Hoover and let them know that he has 3 plus kids that he will place there to "keep them close by".....LOL!!

The only way I could even remotely see this happening is if the LA staff that is going to UAB with Trent and taking off the field roles do not get NCAA waivers, then that would prohibit UAB from being able to recruit at LIpscomb for I believe 2 years or so.  So if Trent thinks he will be prohibited from recruiting current juniors and sophomores, he might would do this.  But that has nothing to do with keeping them close or ensuring they have better coaching.  Having said that, I think it would be really bad form and I would lose a lot of respect for him.....and yes, I know i'm one of the few folks on this board that respects Trent.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
