Congrats... I am 54 spent my youth in Texas playing and watching ball in west Texas.   No where did say I wouldn't give the guy a chance, What I said is I don't think he was the right hire. Tell me you would take him over your coach??Or tell me you believe he is a coach that is going to contend with or beat Creasy? If you are not making progress you are falling behind. I didn't see this as an upgrade and the only thing anyone has said is he brings stability.

I would totally agree.  It would appear that Blackman flubbed this onside kick

If the debate is which coach or style faired best against Creasy, here are the results

Watson:  0-4   Lost by an average score of 23.75 points per game

Hartsfield:  0-3  Lost by an average score of 15.67 points per game

Tygard:  0-3  Lost by an average score of 29 points per game

Heck looking at these variances in scores, they should have rehired Hartsfield.  It's not going to get better for at least two more years.

Guys, I made a mistake in my math

Watson: 23.75 points per game

Harstfield: 22.33 points per game

Tygard:  29 points per game

Sorry for the mix up.  These old eyes are starting to fail me!

I thought 15.67 seemed a little low for Hartsfield considering Blackman played them kind of close a couple times under him but one time they lost by 40. Makes more sense now. I was going to research myself when I had a chance!

I think Kriesky will do a good job. He’ll bring toughness, discipline, and good energy to the program. He will absolutely pour everything he has into the program and the kids. I bet he’s in it for the long haul too. Win loss record doesn’t tell the whole story. He’s going to do everything the right way too.

I don’t know the ins and outs at Blackman and I’m not going to pretend to talk that much about them, but I’m confident Blackman has more talent then Centennial year in and year out. Kriesky will have more resources at Blackman too. Give him some time and I bet he’ll do a good job. Best of luck.

Some of our fan base was underwhelmed with the hire that we made a couple of months back, and then he went out and assembled what is probably the best coaching staff in NW Georgia, and no, I am no longer a part of it, although I still help out a little. So give him a chance.

I don't guess I understand the issue. I have been deep supporter of every Coach Blackman has had; This time it just happens to be in my opinion that was he is not a good fit for the program at this time. and somehow the thought is I/ we are not going to support him. As the biggest Blackman fan on this site, it is baffling to think folks who don't have a dog in the fight have gotten so riled up by the ideal that a very loyal fan to the program is not overly excited about the choice. Nothing said about not supporting him or the program.

The funniest thing about all this is some of the folks throwing a fit in this thread who had no clue who Tygard was,  the same ones slamming me for supporting him. Seems like it . is darned if you do darned if you don't . Most of these folks will crawl back in their shell or flip the switch midway through this next season, and by season 2 will ready to see him tarred and feathered regardless of his record at that point

    • I moved away from Henry Co several years ago but have kept up with the program pretty well.  The facts are this. After realignment, they are in a region with Clarksville Northeast, Clarksville Northwest, Kenwood, Kirkwood, and Dickson County. Nothing against any of those schools, but that's basically a guaranteed region championship for Henry County every year. And their main obstacle from region 8 just moved up to 6A. Nothing is a sure thing, but that's a fairly straightforward path to the semifinals. They have a student body of 1300+ so their general talent level is a lot more consistent than the smaller schools that are more typical of West TN. Not to mention their community support is among the best in the state.   1A-3A is also a bloodbath in West TN. Outside of Shelby County, Henry County is absolutely one of the top one or two jobs in West TN. I can't imagine having to teach (probably PE or Wellness? Give me a break) will deter many applicants.
    • Man we have seen very crazy things happen in West TN over the years at basketball games. Emotions fly high, but usually everybody kinda forgets what happens during games if it is not a shooting.
    • There are weird people in every aspect of wrestling and that’s what makes it a great sport!  As far as schools/coaches not wanting to compete against other schools unless the chances of winning (home gym, coach picks the official, the competition date is perfect for school/coaches X).  When carefully examining the situation so many coaches/schools have lost sight of the big picture and that is to teach student athletes that the most important goal is not winning a championship but too continue fighting and trying to reach your goals when things don’t go your way.
    • His infatuation with Baylor is just plain weird.
    • Okay, I'm going to go down the list. Comer left McKenzie to go to Milan, got a big pay raise, and if it does teach at Milan, it's a small/light course. He made it to Chattanooga. Why leave? Hodge: I don't know Hodge compared to the others, but why leave McKenzie (unless for money)? They're a 1A school with MASE going to 2A. They were leading MASE big time in the semifinal game. They could've/should've been state champions. Ward: If Ward wants in on that job, I think Crockett County will be glad to pay for the real estate fees. Puckett: I don't know what to make of Puckett. Is he a good coach? I believe so, but I also think he has a lot of pressure in 2025 to do well. I would love for him to stay. I know he could be the one to leave of the list you gave me. But he hasn't been at Haywood very long either. Jacobs: Unless he wants a new challenge, it'll be a mistake for him to leave. I think the future for Peabody is in better hands than people may think. I think USJ is the best job. They're going back down to D2-A level. The region won't be as strong, they should do well in the playoffs. Facilities are top notch, and it pays well. I think Milan could be the job in D-1, my opinion. I know Henry County is a good job, but it's tough to say it's the "best job" when they're in a tough spot geography  wise, may not be the best team in that region/that side of 5A, and they're telling the new coach that he is going to teach, which is something coaches don't want to do nowadays.
