First time in my life I can say Metro Nashville had done something right with upgrading all the stadiums.

Needless to say, it shouldn't take a collapse of a structure to come to this point.  This is a major dereliction of duty by the operations side of Sumner County Schools.  THAT is what needs fixing.  Proper maintenance is good governance; citizens need to insist on it.

Those home side stands were built with Railroad steel. They will be there for another 100 years.

The Gallatin home side structure was put in place in 1946.  Several renovations have taken place since then like removal of the wooden bleachers but the framework underneath is 80 years old.  If you look in the report, it is recommended that the home side be replaced  in 2024 or major repairs including, welding, sand blasting, repainting, fabrication of old worn supports on the bleachers be made.  So the big question is, do you sink what $500000 into an old stadium, because to do it right the bleachers and siding have to be removed, or do you just cut your losses and spend more money and get it built new and right?  We all know how the BoE has short changed Gallatin in the past.  Does Lankford make amends for that?  What about the past stadium assessment from 2011 in which nothing was ever done?  How much public pressure needs to be applied for a new home side for the oldest standing stadium in Sumner Co?

Good question. We don't need to leave any stone unturned this go-round. We will also watch what decision is made at Hendersonville as well on their home side even though it wasn't condemned. Remember his dad coached there at one point. Do this stuff once and do it right. make Sumner County the new middle TN standard. You have the opportunity to do just that. Would be a way to make up for the years of no involvement.

I would say spending money on a new stadium after just putting in new visitor bleachers would be a waste of money, but Sumner Co didn't mind spending a crazy amount of money for 1 HS

I think GWave is refencing replacing the home side, not moving the whole deal to campus. If they replaced the home side, it would all be new at that point. Gates, concessions, press box, bathrooms and all on both sides

This whole ordeal makes what some Texas districts have done start to make sense – sink several million dollars into a first class, district-wide complex instead of trying to make sure every school has properly maintained stands. I wonder if any Middle TN districts will ever take that approach.
