Union City travels to Humboldt

I watched the "Teddy Talks" show on YouTube.  Teddy is the Humboldt head coach.  The host asked "is the players not showing up for practice until Thursday each week still a problem coach?"  Teddy said, "this week most did not show up until Friday".   He was talking about the week of the Halls game which Halls won 10 - 8.    Obviously, there's potential to win a lot of games at Humboldt with a head coach who wants to be their coach and not their friend.

No disrespect what so ever, but why in the world does Union City broadcast on two different local radio stations with two different sets of broadcasters? Just wondering…

Because Union City is such a large town, one broadcast team coverage goes out to one side of town and the 2nd coverage team to the other.

One station, owned by Paul Tinkle, has been broadcasting UC games for years and years. Just  few years ago, the Froggy station decided they want to be the voice of UC. The people in charge there at Froggy got cozy with UC administration and they are the new local darlings even though they didn't play by the rules in post season last year. Just my interpretation of the facts as I know them.

In certain markets, the media business is cut throat to say the least. And that is a fact. In Jackson, 4 different media outlets broadcast up to 6 games per week.

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
