Solid list, BPM. And I totally agree with your assessment.

At the end of the day, this is a fan poll and a pretty good one at that. BPM knows his football, does his research, and makes his case for his list. If folks don't like the list feel free to make a point while being courteous. Don't take life so personally.

And for the record, I believe that Huntingdon would slaughter McKenzie if they played this Friday night based on the following:

-They played on Week 1. The goal is to improve as the season progresses. What happened on August 18th is totally irrelevant to this conversation on October 16th.
-McKenzie has played the 36th toughest schedule in 1A to this point and has played 3 Top 25 teams
-Huntingdon has played the 10th toughest schedule in 2A and has played 6 Top 25 teams

Think I heard someone say they only start a couple seniors. May have heard that wrong though. If that’s so , then that explains a lot to me.

I think I might have been the first to mention that Haywood is only starting 2 seniors. I may be wrong about that, but I’ve heard the Haywood sportscasters say that numerous times this year.  I figure they should know.

@BIGPURPLEMACHINE I agree that your rankings are solid.  Thanks for doing your weekly poll.  I look forward to it every week.

Probably was you Stacmot that said that. This is the best thread on the T to me. I enjoy reading this one every week. Informative and comical at the same time.

Well, I guess I’m just an old retired guy with too much time on his hands. I decided to scan through the Max—Prep website rankings, looking for how they placed these schools. You will be surprised at who they have at #10.

1. Henry County

2. Hardin County
3.JCS

4. Dyersburg

5. Huntingdon

6. Dresden

7. Munford

8. Riverside

9. Haywood

10. Milan

The next two are Covington, followed by McKenzie.

I really don’t care how they get ranked, because the playoffs decide everything I’m interested in. Still, I thought I’d provide a second opinion ( albeit from a trusted source).

Very interesting. Close to BPM’s , just in a different order.

Yes they should. And West Carroll  Just read where  running  back from Camden set new rushing record  with 381 yards against West Carroll and had several runs called back from penalties.Had about 400 yards in penalties so if not for that,no telling how many yards he would have had.

Lots of byes last week so not much movement  Munford losses but stays in the poll cause they lost to a really good team.  Are these the best 10 teams in West TN?

Yes Munford lost to a team that beat Mase 42 to 6.So Dresden.McKenzie  should have an easy time against Mase being ranked above Munford. But oh.Its all about wins.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
