Dyersburg is the most talented AAA team in the state, and will be again next year. They can book rooms in Murfreesboro now because no one in their region or substate should stop them from getting there. But state championships are never easy and require some bit of luck along the way.

Upperman, Livingston Academy, White Co, Cumberland Co, Creek Wood, David Crockett, and Heritage are all AAA teams that could get challenge Dyersburg in the state tournament

I think South Side and South Gibson are still in the conversation also

Great points. And in a one game playoff anything can happen.

With the addition of South Gibson to District 13AAA, three of the five teams played in state a year ago. Going to be a real gauntlet this season but at the end of the day I won’t be surprised to see the District send two representatives to the ‘boro once again.

Both will be competitive but I don’t think either one has the talent to challenge Dyersburg this year. South Side is rebuilding, playing a lot of young kids. South Gibson lost two starters to knee injuries. However, with McNeal and Embrey, both programs have great coaches. They’ll get better as the year goes and will be tough outs in the postseason

How long have those coaches been at South Side? Seems like forever. They do a really good job getting those kids to play hard year in and year out. I am surprised they haven't tried to leave or been called to fill some vacancies elsewhere.

If they play as a team yes they are the team to beat but they play a lot of me ball

I said that early in the summer. Are there enough basketballs to go around. Lots of scorers and talent. Crawford put up 23 as a Freshman against us a couple of years ago. The others are big time talents as well.

South Side and South Gibson not what they were last season. Especially South Gibson. I have seen them 3 times and they play hard but injuries have really hurt them. South Side could put it together and make a run. They are figuring out what they need to do without some of those graduates. I have seen them 2 times and they have great pieces.

    • Thankfully,  No Madden in his resume!   Fortunately this new hire, Greg Vandagriff, is pure “gridiron” football!   Work, sweat, get better everyday, outsmart Goliath when you must, but work, work, work.  Wompuscat, we don’t know each other, yet  but I have a strong feeling you are going to really, really like this new coach.  He’s a guy’s  guy and will navigate the Lakeway organizational chart like a good running back would.  He’ll look for the holes,  but I have a feeling he will not hesitate to plow over the toughest defense to reach the goal line.    Lakeway’s program is still in its infancy.  The dismal win loss history is normal in the early years.  Fortunately the stars are now aligning in Lakeway’s favor.    Coach Vandagriff has written a book titled, “The Power of the Patch”.  It’s his life story of rising  above a troublesome childhood and  becoming the father and man he always wanted in his life, but never had.   He gives all credit to his faith in God (instilled by his grandmother).  He credits his high school football coach with molding his character and work ethic.  The book is now available on Amazon.      I’ve read the book.  It’s a tearjerker, if you are a sentimental grandma.  Lakeway has been blessed to begin a new football chapter with a head football coach whose goals are aligned with the school’s.
    • Kirby was the only one offered, nobody else had a chance to turn it down.
    • Didn’t say we would win, we aren’t scared of competition like a lot of teams out west…. We called a lot of the big bad teams in west tn and none of them wanted to play. We filled our week 2 game with JP2 anyways.
    • No one knows what the schedule will be.  To assume 45 would be foolish.  My wife and I have a few friends who work at the high school and up until Friday they said he was going to meetings throughout the week.  He immediately went back to Covington.  His wife never moved.  This isn’t complicated
    • It’s not wide open. Noah Watkins will walk through the bracket.
