Ty Cobb is the best player in AAA and in the UpperCumberland and it’s not close.  No way he doesn’t get Mr Basketball if the voting is unbiased.

Ty Cobb is a great player but it’s a stretch to say that it’s not close if he is the best player in AAA.  The highest rated(4star on ESPN and 3 Star by On3) and highest offers would be Thompson.  He has also faced tougher competition looking at both teams schedules so far this year.

The only real argument is him vs Capps, and then who would be 3rd. Capps has a little bit  better stats (and probably should have won it last year and didn't), but has lost the head to head this year. Argument can be made that head to head should decide it, but can also be made that Capps is more important to his team since the surrounding teammates ultimately decided the games. Ultimately I think you are right though and Cobb will win it.

This is a tough one.  I watched stone more this year because Jack Cordell came from clarkrange and that's my stomping grounds.  Cobb is way more athletic.  I have never seen a player face the defense Capps does .  it's a faceguard every night and a double/triple team if he drives.  He is skilled enough to still produce.  Last year Capps had great numbers all the way around and didn't win mr basketball which I thought he deserved.  This year it could go Capps or Cobb or heck they may give to someone else. Cobb has won head to head so that may factor. Capps percentages are not as good as last year I don't think but the kid never gets an easy look in a game.   it's crazy.  Cobb has more playmakers  around him and I  think they win the state.  The post for upperman are great. Cordell and Lowe are pretty good players but seem to get hesitant against teams like upperman and throw the ball back to Capps as soon as they get it. he was exhausted against upperman it looked like.  When Cobb is a senior he will be the best to come out of the area.  his athleticism and iq are hard to match.  Hats off to both these players and cool to see 2 players like that in the upper Cumberland at the same time. wish them both well.

Thompson is the real deal. You don't get a Tennessee offer for no reason.  I would say Thompson, Capps and Cobb are the finalist

I agree wholeheartedly with this. Honestly with how last year went and how close it SHOULD be this year between those 2 I’d have no problem giving it to the senior since the sophomore is being hailed as the winner for the next 2 years already.

I get we aren’t supposed to take any of that in consideration but if it’s as close as it is I’d give it to the senior who hasn’t won it yet.

Great analogy I don’t disagree with anything you said. Both are very deserving as are the others mentioned.

Another great analogy. Glad to see Beaty back for York. UpperCumberland could bring home 5 Gold balls this year.  UHS men’s AAA White County ladies AAA York ladies AA PIckett County men’s and ladies Class A. Don’t count Smith County out either!  They are my dark horse in AA.

Maybe a little 😂.  Crazy between the legs Dunk tonight by Thompson, figured you all would enjoy watching it. Arguably the best player to come out of Greeneville. ( Gillespie who is the starting PG for Maryland and him are the best two I’ve seen play for the Greene Devils)

After 43 points last night from Santa Fe's Auden Slaughter, the local media reported him to be up to 3315 points for his career. Still on pace to be 2nd or 3rd all time.  They won easily and, at one point in the 4th quarter, Slaughter had outscored state contender Richland's entire team.

in the upper cumberland

watched alot of ball in UC this year thanks to UC reporter.

will mccrary - avg 21.6 10.8 reb - double double - has not played in 8 or 9  - 4 th quarters of games this year due to blowouts

ty cobb avg 28.5 pts 4 reb 3 asst - plays the whole game except maybe last 2 minutes of blowouts

c capps avg 31 and 8 reb - plays the whole game

and who still has the better numbers? will mccrary

and according to the coach t .... upperman has played only 5 top 25 teams and jackson co has played 7 top 25 teams . i cant find stones top 25 opponents - probably up there pretty good.

will mccrary - jackson co ... way to underrated.

I played with Wiggins at Greeneville (He is a year older than me and had to guard him in practice.  Mainly to try and push him off the block because he is 9 inches taller than me and I was the strongest on the basketball team lol).  He was a stud just think Gillespie and Thompson were better than him in High School.  He has played a lot over seas and was the reason College of Charleston beat Davidson and Steph Curry with his block shot against Steph.  Wiggins is definitely in my top 5 along with Marty Story and Braun Dabbs.

    • 1A favorite has to be Greenfield. They bring back their best two players.  The rest of West TN 1A is down. Humboldt, Middleton, Memphis Middle College may be the next best teams. Middle TN 1A will be interesting - a lot of good teams. Only two of McEwen, Wayne Co, Richland, Moore Co, Eagleville will make the state tournament. McEwen has probably the best player in 1A (though you could make an argument for Shields at Unaka).  Wayne Co is down a little but still competitive. Richland is really good.  Pickett and Van Buren will be really good. Clarkrange could upset one of them. Way east looks like North Greene and Unaka with Cloudland definitely capable of knocking one of them off
    • The 2A east is gonna come down to between Marion Co. and Tyner. Hope to see those schools play each other and in my opinion East Nashville should dominate 2A west but at the same time I think MASE will be in the mix too
    • Blackman got absolutely cheated when they’re went to bowling green, everyone in the state knows that the biggest con of traveling out of state is dealing with the officials, also classification in one state is almost never the same in another state, one state can go off purely enrollment and one state over can go off talent so that’s one also
    • Idk about this one Chief 😬
    • Harley, I just looked your schedule and your predicted to go 9-1 in the regular season. Thats pretty good. The loss would come from Fulton if it happens that way the predictions say.  Meigs is predicted to go 8-2 by comparison.  Predictions are what they are etc. Meant for fun.
