No way he doesn’t get Mr Basketball if the voting is unbiased. Ty Cobb is a great player but it’s a stretch to say that it’s not close if he is the best player in AAA. The highest rated(4star on ESPN and 3 Star by On3) and highest offers would be Thompson. He has also faced tougher competition looking at both teams schedules so far this year. Capps has a little bit better stats (and probably should have won it last year and didn't), but has lost the head to head this year. Argument can be made that head to head should decide it, but can also be made that Capps is more important to his team since the surrounding teammates ultimately decided the games. Ultimately I think you are right though and Cobb will win it. This is a tough one. I watched stone more this year because Jack Cordell came from clarkrange and that's my stomping grounds. Cobb is way more athletic. I have never seen a player face the defense Capps does . it's a faceguard every night and a double/triple team if he drives. He is skilled enough to still produce. Last year Capps had great numbers all the way around and didn't win mr basketball which I thought he deserved. This year it could go Capps or Cobb or heck they may give to someone else. Cobb has won head to head so that may factor. Capps percentages are not as good as last year I don't think but the kid never gets an easy look in a game. it's crazy. Cobb has more playmakers around him and I think they win the state. The post for upperman are great. Cordell and Lowe are pretty good players but seem to get hesitant against teams like upperman and throw the ball back to Capps as soon as they get it. he was exhausted against upperman it looked like. When Cobb is a senior he will be the best to come out of the area. his athleticism and iq are hard to match. Hats off to both these players and cool to see 2 players like that in the upper Cumberland at the same time. wish them both well.

Thompson is the real deal. You don't get a Tennessee offer for no reason. I would say Thompson, Capps and Cobb are the finalist 1

Honestly with how last year went and how close it SHOULD be this year between those 2 I’d have no problem giving it to the senior since the sophomore is being hailed as the winner for the next 2 years already. I get we aren’t supposed to take any of that in consideration but if it’s as close as it is I’d give it to the senior who hasn’t won it yet. Both are very deserving as are the others mentioned.

UpperCumberland could bring home 5 Gold balls this year. UHS men’s AAA White County ladies AAA York ladies AA PIckett County men’s and ladies Class A. Don’t count Smith County out either! They are my dark horse in AA.

Crazy between the legs Dunk tonight by Thompson, figured you all would enjoy watching it. Arguably the best player to come out of Greeneville. SFsWildcat
After 43 points last night from Santa Fe's Auden Slaughter, the local media reported him to be up to 3315 points for his career. Still on pace to be 2nd or 3rd all time. They won easily and, at one point in the 4th quarter, Slaughter had outscored state contender Richland's entire team. I played with Wiggins at Greeneville (He is a year older than me and had to guard him in practice. Mainly to try and push him off the block because he is 9 inches taller than me and I was the strongest on the basketball team lol). He was a stud just think Gillespie and Thompson were better than him in High School. He has played a lot over seas and was the reason College of Charleston beat Davidson and Steph Curry with his block shot against Steph. Wiggins is definitely in my top 5 along with Marty Story and Braun Dabbs.
