Going back 30 some odd years ago, no one has mentioned David C. Fritts from Clinton. He's probably the best running back I've seen in high school. UT and several other colleges wanted him, but his knees had been shot since Little League. He did have a successful career at MTSU, and I see his name in the newspapers quite a bit lately. Fritts' teammate, Terry Moore, did get a scholarship to UT and started at fullback. What a 1-2 punch back in those days. Terry's dad, Allen, was a standout at Coalfield High School in the late 1940's. Dang, are we allowed to mention these ancient people? :D

So...'Ol Fritts DID exist!

My old coach Ken Honea used to talk about him quite often. We weren't sure if he really existed or not! :)

Heck he even used to wear an old orange Clinton jacket to our practices nearly every day.

Heard several stories about 'ol Fritts as he used to call him, knew he must have been something!

Two great ones from Meigs County......Gary Moore, in 1975 gained 2100 plus yards and scored 33 TD's during undefeated regualr season. Probably just played in 25 of the 40 quarters because games were out of hand. Also, Gary Meadows still second in single season all purpose yards. In 1993 had 1500 rushing 600 receiving, about 500 in kickoff and punt returns....and throw in 2 Int. returns for TD......Best I saw play against Meigs Co. was Jermaine Copeland from Harriman. Played QB but was a great high school runner. Scored 42 pts. in a 42-28 victory over undefeated Meigs team in state quarterfinals.

I think Tito Lee has to be at the top of this list.  He was the most dominating player I ever saw, and I played against or saw several others on this list.  Here's my others in no order:

Al Wilson

Travis Stephens

Will Bartholomew

Santonio Beard

i still say anyone who ever played against Chris Elam would agree he should be on the list

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
