Everyone thinks that Lake County is going to be average like the past few season. The falcons are extremely young and return 28 sophomores and freshmen next year. I have been around football for along time and I'm telling everyone LC is primed for the next 5 or 6 years to have teams like they had in the 70s, 80's and early 90s. LC will be very good come playoff time next year and after that everyone better watch out. This is the most young talent LC has had in many years. LC will be a major threat in the west for awhile. If not I will gladly eat my crow.

I agree.I think we will see a lot of improvement next year and after that barring injuries ,players  moving etc ,could be some special years.

Dresden will lose a ton from this years team. We do have several returning players that start or play a ton currently so I expect us to be very competitive next year. Middle school team is very good also so we should be good (loose term) for next few years. I also expect a shake up with the coaching staff next year. But I've been saying that for three years. We will cross that bridge when we get to it I guess.

Bigster none of the current players are leaving. They are here for the next 4 years. The ones that have left done so before they entered high school. That ship as sailed.

I figured that they had unless a family moves since they would have to sit a year otherwise .I think we have players now that know the best is yet to come. Some of the ones that left may think the grass was greener at Dyersburg and Dyer Co and they may win games, may go to a first or second round game .But not going to win a championship and make their community proud.

agree.  They can go to Dyersburg or Dyer county and be just another player, or stay home and be a hero.  I don't think there are any LC student athletes that are in UC that I know of.

JB won't be a favorite next year.  I'm pretty down on them for many years to come.  With that said, we only lost 5 seniors from this year's team.  Our seniors next year are small (by numbers and size) but we have a halfway decent group of juniors and sophomores.  If our juniors and sophomores decided to get it in gear and make a big jump next year could be successful.  I think they'll be good enough to not get embarrassed the next couple years but that's about it.  JB is down... -_-

I don't know of any at UC .Had  several at Dyer Co last year and have 3 at Dyersburg this year ,one being a senior ,a junior and a freshman. I think it's about run its course. Like you said, at Dyer Co and dyersburg, just another player .But in a small town ,seems like it's all there is and all the town talks about the team and the players .Especially if it's a state caliber type team

Atlas you are correct no student athletes from LC at UC and I highly doubt that we will be losing very many to Dyersburg or Dyer Co in the near future. Like I said that ship has about sailed. I just wish people would quit worrying about the ones we lost in the past and focus on the ones we have. The future is very bright in LC.

I've said it more than once, you can be a small fish in a big pond or a big fish in a small pond. Be just another of many others, or be among a few the key one making a difference. Smaller rural towns are imo the best place to be. Green Acres over Big City any day.

How many seniors did they lose this season? So your juniors and sophomores are good? How are your freshman and 8th graders or is it just a few good classes coming up? SP has a good group all the way down. The word is that each younger class is a little more talented than the one in front of it. I hope that's the case.

The juniors and sophomores are good.

It drops off after that until it gets to the 6th graders. they're pretty good.

    • Understand the young thing.  I was one of those.  Barely 17 when I graduated from high school and started college.  But redshirting for athletic purposes isn't doing them any favors, in my opinion.  Life isn't always going to be fair.

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say they have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
