  2. Slightly off topic from a gender standpoint but just observed several boys volleyball games in the Knoxville area for a short spring season. The guys seemed to have a great time. There were several club players on each team but several football, basketball and tennis players involved. Knoxville Catholic, Maryville, Heritage, Knoxville West maybe William Blount had teams. Thanks to Coach Brent Carter from Knoxville Catholic/K2 for getting it together. I’m sure the coaches involved got several laughs trying to coach guys that really had no idea what they were talking about but pretty athletic and competitive. Catholic’s best basketball player told the coach he had played a lot of 2:3 and 1:3:1 but never a 3:3 LOL Maybe it will catch on with some more schools next year.

    Anyone heard from MrNositall lately?
  4. MASE is a charter. They can accept kids from any where.
  5. It was my understanding that he just retired.
  6. I know he is tearing the cover off a baseball.
  7. Siegel Middle School is looking for a Head Wrestling Coach. This will be the 3rd year that the school has had a program, but the Stars have had a middle school team for a while now. This is program is established and has a club team (Stars) feeding it with wrestlers. Siegel High School is looking for an assistant coach. Again, this program is growing with talent every year. This past year we had 2 state placers. Stars Wrestling Club is also looking for coaches to help with the program. If interested you can send an email to starstnwrestlingclub@gmail.com or freemand@rcschools.net
  8. Terri Brock is the name in the rumor mill.

  10. Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
  11. Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
  12. It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
  13. No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
  14. Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
  15. What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
  16. Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
  17. Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
  18. RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
  19. Yesterday
  20. I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
  21. Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season! They very well could go undefeated in regular season. We shall see what happens in postseason. I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past. I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong. It should be a fun season!
  22. I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
  23. What do we need to do to help with Mr. Basketball?
  24. With June camps right around the corner, how are programs looking, reloading, any notable underclass coming in?
