ONB, trivia question.How far is WB traveling this year to play a 4A team to avoid playing Alcoa or GB?

There was only three 138 pound wrestlers in that region. Sad

The Shad at Blackman and the Shad at WB have been two completely different coaches and your other comments tell me you have no clue about Football in East TN. Facts for you WB took their off week literally off and didn't practice 2 years ago. Anderson County was down 42 to 7 at half against Greeneville so I don't know how you think they went toe to toe with them for 3 quarters in the Quarter Finals not the Semi's Stone Memorial plays in the worst 4a conference in the whole state of TN. Was put out in the first round by a 3-7 team this year and WB beat them 56-27 the year prior. WB has not improved under Shad one bit when it comes to wins or them avg. losing by 29 points this year the worst since Shad has been there and also worse than the previous coach.

For the good of your program. I hope it’s a Satterfield.

This is my take on all of this. Stone Memorial is in one of the weakest divisions in all of 4A football and their only loss was to Lenior City 21-43, a team WB beat the first game of the year 13-7. WB played Stone Memorial two weeks after they got drilled by L.C. and destroyed WB 27-0 only to turn around and lose the first round of the 4A playoffs to a 4-6 team the following week. Anderson County is a 4A school as well but had a 3-7 record in 2016 the year the 2017 and 2018 games were signed up. Lenior City had a 2-9 record in 2015 and 3-9 in 2016 in 5A and wore William Blount out 34-18 to open the 2017 season. The three games you would think they would win before the season and only beat Stone Memorial. The same in 2018 but they only beat Lenior City. My take on Shad is that he has a great record coming into William Blount and I'm sure a lot was expected of him but he walked into a situation where he had to inherit the staff and make due with the few tools he was given. I'm sure being at a school that had 3,4 and 5 star type material to work with had to have been a shocker to walk into not to mention the crumbling facilities The week off issue was during fall break in 2017 during an open week so the football team didn't practice for an entire week which is unheard of around here but it happened the week before a good possible chance to win against McMinn County. Not going to say that cost them the game but I watched it and you could tell the timing was off especially when the center over snapped the punter a mile. I don't know Shad personally but I do know people that like him and some who don't. The whole program has been a wreck before he even came aboard but I blame the county for that. The biggest reasons I personally have lost some confidence was four years ago losing to the worst team in 6A Bearden 0-9 in the final game, the next year running off half the team just before they go play Oakland there in the playoffs risking getting a bunch of kids hurt, the week off ordeal in 2017 and how they managed to lose 27-0 to Stone Memorial the very final game this past year. There seems to be a pattern here that just keeps rolling over to the next year.

Mr Hanley our QB won Mr Football and had 35 total TDs this year alone.I have missed the Wildcat comment ubdoubtly.We very seldom run a wildcat.Adjusting to the defense your playing against is great Coaching IMO.We can do this all day!!!You make it sound like a personal attack if you think that you havent followed my posts in WB threads very long.

If you’ll look at my post early on Greenfield still one to beat / been there before done that / makes difference ( and my grandkids play at Summertown )

I think PF can beat and hang with a lot of AAA teams. We wrestled them in the summer and they had some really tough kids

Why would someone from tssaa put effort towards something when they can instead create a half baked criteria based on if a person placed before followed by a random number generator done on tiers of how people placed at regionals? Only an unwise tssaa that cares about its athletes would commit such a travesty

Maybe do a little homework before posting.. Greenfield has 2 players that were Miss Basketball finalist last year. Maybe they don’t have SEC offers yet, may get them may not. But Miss Basketball is an award for your high school season not based on offers or who your daddy or brother is. Weathers is one of the best freshman players I have seen and I think her upside is crazy but don’t disrespect other players you have not even seen play.. I have seen Weathers play multiple times, she is definitely good but those two from Greenfield are very good also. If you were in the State Championship game last year like my daughter was, you could have seen them play. Loretto has a very good chance to make it to state and I expect them to as well as Greenfield. So maybe you will get an up close look at these 2... Good Luck to everyone, Single A basketball is loaded at the top... cat wait for this season to play out.

It’s almost impossible to narrow it down to 3 finalist with the talent throughout the state... Several really good players who could make a case as to why they should be up for the award. Good luck to you all in the tournaments as well!

Jada is a very good player and is deserving of being a Miss Basketball finalist... she’s had a great season and career at Oak Ridge.

Dont promise what you cant deliver.A "good coach" should know that.Scheduling down and then still coming up short doesnt help.Taking weeks off when the kids need the practice doesnt help either.Also we all know how bad they have been but they have had the talent to win more than 1,2 or 3 games the past few year.But thats just and ignorant garbage opinion from a fan of a school you have never heard of (which has a 80% win record since 1985.)

Haven’t seen her play so don’t want to take one side or the other. But an offer to a freshman is based on potential not the current player. She can have the most potential but I have a hard time believing she is currently better the Moore from greenfield. If she is she will win 4 miss basketballs

" Seeing as I currently have no kin folk in any TSSAA sports and I'm not currently coaching anywhere and truthfully don't have a vested interested in any current programs I haven't attended the State Tournament in a couple of years. However, if what I copy/pasted above would ever happen, I would never miss the event. I'm sure I'm in the minority but I'd pay $100 plus for an all tournament ticket.

There are goods and bads with everything in life goods 1) the venue is free 2) location is centralized 3) viewing is decent for spectators bads 1) it’s a national embarrassment 2) the kids wrestle on top of animal manure 3) there is dust and animal fecies in the air. It’s on the rails, on the seats, on the concession stands, on the water fountains, on the concrete and everywhere in the facility. Do you think the entire place is sanitized before the tournament? That would cost more than hosting it in Bridgestone Arena. 4) the attendance is embarrassing 5) There are no showers. There isn’t even a locker room for the kids to change. They have to change in the restrooms with the spectators. There are several health code violations going on here. In fact according to the TSSAA you can’t host a football playoff without shower facilities. How much more for a wrestling tournament?. How ironic that the main focus of the TSSAA preseason required coaches meetings is skin desease. I guess since it’s the end of the year it doesn’t matter. I’m shocked up to this point there haven’t been any lawsuits (just wait). 6) the athletes deserve a first class facility. They are wrestling in an agricultural center. It’s not an arena. It’s a barn for animal shows. It’s supposed to be the state tournament. The showcase. The ultimate event of a high school wrestlers career. Make no mistake. They are wrestling in a barn on top of animal fecies. You can deceive yourself all you want. It’s a National embarrassment.
