  1. None of this has anything to do with whether it’s harder to win a state championship today versus 30 years ago. All teams have more specialization, year round training, etc. The sport has evolved sure but all schools do this so no relative advantage for anyone. what does matter is three divisions then with public and private schools all playing together versus 9 divisions now with public and private separated. Has population tripled in last 30 years? No (increased about 40%). If we increased the divisions by same percentage, we would have 4 classifications now rather than 9.

  2. Those 60,70 and 80's team might not beat them, but they would hurt them bad. Young men were tough back then and played I know with torn acl's before we even knew what they were. To say what you did about not competing I for one think your totally wrong. Kids now are soft and couldn't take a 48 minute whipping from those tough dudes.

  3. You should probably read closer before you comment. You obviously aren’t talking to me! I think I made my point very clear. I never said anything about running up a score. Like I said 2 times I didn’t have a problem with it. It’s Cookeville’s job to stop a team from running up a score not the other coach. Read again. But I do agree with you on the stats.

  4. Stone pulled their starters as soon as Cookeville did. Insinuating that Stone tried to run the score up by leaving starters in is a joke. You can't find a game that Stone has ran up a score since Coach Buck has been there. Especially against a district opponent. If he coached how some other coaches do (leaving players in the game for stats), Tessa Miller would have 3,000+ points and 2,000+ rebounds and probably be averaging a triple double this year. Some of the stats for so many players in the Upper Cumberland are so watered down its ridiculous. But hey, it looks good on twitter, facebook and in the newspaper to people that are clueless. [Different era these days. #soft]

  6. there should be a sub state like duals. top 4 from each region and then combine regions i to 4 sub state tournaments where top 4 there qualify. could even do it in back to back days considering each would only have 8 kids per bracket. it wouldn’t take long.

  7. It will be very interesting to see what happens with some of the weight classes where there are three ranked wrestlers from the same region. 126: Bates, Warnock, Woerner 145 Mann, Fisher, Hylton 182: Tanksley Boyd Lewis With the regions only sending 2 from each weight class there will be some very tough kids not qualifying for state, what sucks for them is that there will also be some weak kids coming out of regions 2, 3, and 8 in some spots.

  8. Too much drama in here for me. Looking forward to supporting our 2021 Pirates regardless of whose coaching or playing. As a former player, the Orange and Black will always be special to me, win or lose. Go Pirates!

  9. Just a question, I heard the hixson brothers are going back to Chattanooga if so how bad will that hurt the team this year. Grider put the time in let him leave when he ready.

  12. I’m glad we will stay the Red Rebels. I mean it was the T$$AA that named us that to begin with. It seems like most of the people who voted for the name change are out of towners. They should find another team to follow.

  13. You are right brother. I think it comes down to how our parents respected our coaches. I was appalled at the state game to hear SP’s own fans booing Grider. His record speaks for itself. I’ve got a lot of respect for him.

  14. Good grief I’d sure love to talk about the 2021 season coming up. This stuff is as repetitive as old pirate and Roy’s jargon.

  17. Huge win for the Lady Rebels over AAA Arlington tonight 65 to 63. Davis-13 Bennett-12 Auvenshine-11 Dyer-10 to lead the way. Led at half by 6 by Arlington made their push at led at multiple times in the 4th. Our press caused them to turn it over at times which led to easy baskets and 3's. Hats off to Arlington for scheduling us so late in the season, and letting us have a home game. The Taylor sisters are remarkable players and so is #12 Long.

  18. One of the best games I have seen all year. Up 6 at half... Arlington made their push in the second half and even led at times. But our Lady rebels had no signs of quitting in them. Saw some nice things out of our young team tonight but still plenty to work on. It was a great team win. 4 in double figures led by Davis with 13.

  19. Exactly you havent told us anything. You've hinted at something going to happen. If something does happen wether it is big news or not you will say I told you so. If it doesn't you will still "hear" something will eventually. I dont believe you KNOW anything. You've probably heard the rumors about like most on here. If you did know something you would be specific and just tell everyone but you won't because you would hate for everyone to find out you make most of it up. Will you answer the question I asked earlier or will you continue to dodge the question?

  23. This is a fantastic take. Lets fill the Vols roster with 5'9 150 pound skill guys and a few of those "Farm Strong" lineman that are 6'1 220! Complete our dumpster fire and go looking for yet another coach. Hire their Daddy's to coach too, while youre at it.
