Maryville vs Alcoa '06

I have Alcoa going 8-2 with the losses being to McCallie & Maryville. With Shiverdecker at RB the Tornadoes don't lose much at all and they have a great receiving core led of course by Kyrus Lanxter and Brian Sommer. Bart Hicks is about as good of an LB you'll find and if eligable Sykes may be the most dominant down lineman in the entire state. I just don't see Alcoa losing to Fulton :(

Yes Alcoa could be 8-2 or even 9-1, but I still think Alcoa loses 3 but get’s back to the state game. Personally, I think Shiverdecker will be better than Lindsey was, but he is not as big or strong as Lindsey was IMO. I could be wrong. Shiverdecker has played vs. tougher defenses than Lindsey did in his younger years. I have heard there might be an issue with Sykes but he won't be close to the most dominating in the state! He wasn’t close last year nothing makes me think he will improve that much, but should a great deal under Rankin. He will be a great player but not a game changer and he is very block able as evidence on tape. I think Alcoa might be still enjoying some of last years hype but faced with adversity they will fold. Next year I would expect with Rankin at the helm that will never a factor, but I think it will take an even a great coach two years or better to change mindsets.

I will be interested to see how Alcoa reacts to adversity this season after losing the great class of 2006. The past years all the kids had looked to the class of 2006 for its leadership and game changing plays, hopefully a few kids will be able to step up and fill these roles. THIS WILL BE THE DIFFERENCE IN ANOTHER STATE CHAMPIONSHIP OR NOT. Mark my word.

, I don't think we'll ever beat Maryville. Hopefully the hiring of Rankin will maybe keep it respectable, and I think it might. Heck, I've heard Maryville Maryville down a little.

Maryville 35

Alcoa 19

Didn't Alcoa beat Maryville in 2000? Then Maryville went on to win State in 4A?

I will be there pulling for the underdog!

    • Why? Low pay. Low budget thanks to the Rotary milking the programs revenue. Foul smell. There are other negative things... Positives: the players and being toward the top of the classification numbers wise.
    • What we have here is an influx of outsiders raining down on the town of Maryville like a swarm of locust trying to change our culture into the same crap they moved away from. I have no issues with anyone coming here but don't bring your politics with you. Most people around here never pay attention to the elections and keep letting the same ole rats and vermin right back in the back door and wonder why things are like they are. The problem at Maryville High is mainly due to letting outsiders get a foothold on control and shove their agenda down everyone's throat. Anyone that leaves there or let's say ranoff are replaced with an outsider with the same mindset. Eventually Maryville High will never be the same as it once was which I'm beginning to believe already but it's only chance of survival are to recruit people that will get in there and reverse the damage that has already happened.
