Dobyns Bennett Football

Recommended Posts

Next month we will honer the team.It was not the finish anyone wanted, and anyone who knows football wouldn't be completly happy as a DB fan.The facts are this however,we did have an undefeated regular season and won the very last Big East championship. The Quarterback club with president Rick Bateman at the lead, has done a very nice thing in making it possible for the players to get a Big East championship ring. For those that have never met Rick and his family, you couldn't make up in your mind better people then they are. To all the people that have worked to make it a great year for our kids,THANKS.I will miss these senior players who many I have got to know here and there, great bunch of kids.I expect to see you all back in the stands next year cheering the Team on,because all of you guys will forever be members of the Tribe. We will try to get ACTION 2 done before you guys move on to bigger and better things,to give you some more laughs.Roll Tribe!!

I thought Lane was the offensive coordinator for a couple of years at SC.Either way,he is a good young coach. That's why I talked about Holt and Wagner,a couple of good young coaches on our staff.Holt will be a great defensive coordinator and head coach one of these days.Holt reminds me of me when I was a little younger and thinner, not as a coach but a fire ball.I think Wagner could take a lot of pressure off of Clark by calling the plays.I think he will be a very fine head coach as well.Matter of fact,if I were needing a head coach at another school, anyone under Clark would be a top notch pick to lead a team.

Good post. I think Holt has the potential to be the next Watson. Wagner, on offense, I am not as sure of.

I don't know the full D-B schedule, but I am picking up bits and pieces. I saw in the Knoxville newspaper that Farragut announced it's week 0 game is at home against D-B

2009 Football Schedules Shaping Up

Knoxville News Sentinel - Knoxville,TN,USA

Farragut will take on Dobyns-Bennett in Week 0 (Aug. 21), Oak Ridge in Week 1 and new region foe Catholic in Week 2. The bye week for the Admirals in Week 3 ...

I also saw in the Oak Ridge newspaper that they are NOT playing D-B next year in the regular season

No more wondering Oak Ridge fans

Oak Ridger - Oak Ridge,TN,USA

Those three teams included Farragut, Dobyns-Bennett and Maryville. The schedule didn't work out with Dobyns-Bennett, but Maryville did fit and on Sept. ...

Week 0 D-B at Farragut

Week 1

Week 2

Week 3

Week 4

Week 5

Week 6

Week 7 D-B at Tennessee High (got this from CoachT 2009 football schedules thread)

Week 8

Week 9 D-B at Science Hill (got this from CoachT 2009 football schedules thread)

Week 10

I think D-B has an AWAY games at South

I think D-B has HOME games vs Crockett, Boone, Volunteer

Not sure if D-B/Central is home or away

2 additional non-conference games...don't know who

Even against a weaker conference GC will run Chris all season, playing him both ways and on special teams. Come Hilltopper game he will be worn out, possibly already injured. all good things come to an end again on DB's home field. They finally lose to hilltoppers and that prevents them from playoff game. But the good news is GC doesnt lose in the first round. With the new TSSAA schedule the TRIBE will roll, HA! GC stays around 2 more years to get his son a scholarship and then he hangs it up. By then Daniels will have enough people mad that GC gets AD job. DB will never make it as long as they keep the same coaches and KPT is content with a perfect season against weak teams. At least the band takes on tough competition and knows to change the music each year!

Again ,I say Rusty is a fine ball player and a fine young man if daddy was the coach or not.Who knows if he will even want to play in college.

I guess you were reading my post when you responded to watchdog. You are right about the seats being open during the playoffs.I got eight and could have had 25 people during the second half

I'm bringing the fifty points we should have scored on McMinn and saying we will get into a safety battle to finish the game.Really ,I think you guys are a big favorite going in.We will be young and have a lot of guys stepping up next year.I would guess that DB is a 21 point underdog in this game at the first of the season.

    • Understand the young thing.  I was one of those.  Barely 17 when I graduated from high school and started college.  But redshirting for athletic purposes isn't doing them any favors, in my opinion.  Life isn't always going to be fair.

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say they have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
