At least we play UP in classifications. Most 1A teams don't. SP and Trousdale have had a great rivalry....evidently you don't know anything about that because it is tied 3-3. There is no shame in losing to the eventual state champion late in the playoffs. Being 1-2 after playing against the #2 team in 2A and the #3 team in 3A is not shameful. Everybody that is on here busting on SP are jealous plain and simple. 3 loses in 3 season with a state title in nothing to hang your head about. Yes we are confident in our team and CROW about it, but most of it is all in fun. There are alot of people that just take it so serious.

 

All quite true. SP & TC both play up in class. Personally I wish TC had more open dates to play

better competition. With this new alignment, we only have two non-district games available.

Had to go out of state to fill one of those. Not as easy as it may sound to make schedules. You

can't just snap your finger & say we're going to play so & so.

You guys are doing fine, as is TC. SP with 3 losses in 3 years. TC 24-1 past 2 yrs. None in state.

Just keep trucking..every road has bumps. Heck of a come back in the 2nd half. Dang near pulled it off.

Try to get OP in a safe house somewhere. That old noggin surely can't take much more.

Grunt, Old Pirate says them Polk youngons come out and ran the ball likes they were proving a point. Got plum skeerd theys would rip off a leg and start beating us with it on defense. The Pirates allowed a couple big plays on a toss throw back for a td and a screen play that was executed to perfection. The Polk QB is a Tebow type youngon big,strong and runs hard. T. Rob had a good game and if not for the dropped passes would have passed for over 400 yds. Some receivers are goin to have to step up and catch the well thrown passes. Anyhow good luck to the Jackets.

OP, Have to agree, Grunt's seemingly always been a glutton for punishment. Don't rightly

Honeymoon's not over tho, actually hasn't begun. Big day's Dec. 6. Been shopping around for a

thicker helmet. Lodge oughta make this an option with every skillet.

Listen to the last qtr. or so of the game last nite on the 'net. One heck of a game. Kept me on

the edge of this ole chair.

We played hard in the second half. Nothing to hang our heads about. Too many turnover's and inability to stop those counter and trap plays was our unduing. You can not give the ball away to an excellent ball control team and win. No matter how well we played in the second half. Let's not get down on our team for this loss. We are spoiled from our recent past dominance. Maybe we can have a healthy respect for our young-men's and coaching staff's efforts. This is not 08's team and certainly not 07. Enjoy this yr's team for it's accoplishments and heart it has shown. Our road to Cookville will be a bit easier than in the past. But still has to be won on the field not here on coach t. Good-luck Pirates. Polk County has a fine ball club and should go further than they ever have in the play-offs.

Thanks to the team at SP for a great game.The way people get wound up is fun.If ya'll are winning like.what was it?, twenty something wins and one loss- four years? what gives? I don't know much about all the inside/outside of the classes etc.With that kind of record why keep beating the same ol' same ol'? Heck,you can play middle school teams or college teams.(figure of speech) Wouldn't you want the better competiton,win or lose? Polk ain't had much competition this year and when we heard SP,we couldn't wait for it.Wanted the -competition-win or lose.Both teams played a good,no,a GREAT game,shoulda,couldas,wouldas,clock,officials aside.Hope to be with ya'll in Cookeville.

That small school stuff won't work. 88% picked SP to win in the Big Ones Contest, and some SP fans were predicting a blowout. Polk Co. beat a good team. They should be happy about it. SP shouldn't have much of a problem getting to the title game, then they'll probably have Jo Byrns who'll be tough. BTW, I don't know this to be exact some local people may know better. But, IMO, SP's program probably helps them pull athletes from all over the county, and maybe from out of county. Because, they want to play football for a winner. And, if a boy is a legitimate college prospect, he'd definitely get more recognition at SP than at Whitwell. It doesn't mean they're breaking any rules or that they are recruiting. They just let their performance on the field do all the talking for them. So the small school stuff really doesn't work for me. They have a small enrollment, but it seems they always have a high percentage of athletes in that small population. Probably alot like Trousdale, Bloodlines. The teams have some of the same last names every year.

94...you are very sensitive....i stated with Trousdale Co being in 2A, you guys should win the state. I did not state anything about your record with Trousdale. They are now in another classification and you do not have to play them on your way to Cookeville.

wingman you don't know much about west tenn. football. huntingdon has only lost to milan and camden ,both 3a teams.both were undefeated until camden got beat this past friday.we'll see you in the playoffs.

Old Pirate says..........SP folkes is jest fine with only 3 losses in the last 4 years............Recon the Pirate supporters can be awlfully proud of that. Very few folkes can say theys got anything better. Least ways the skillet slinger reminds OP that a whack ever now and then sometimes is beneficial.

No their not jealous just sick and tired of hearing how every week is going to be a mercy rule game after the first quater. And tired of hearing S.P. is a little ol single A school. If the fans that get on here made more sense or had more humility about their predictions, people would not be on you after a loss that everyone saw coming.

 

Being sick and tired is jealousy because 9 times out of 10, the predictions are true. Most of the comments made are in fun....fellars like you get too upset.

News Flash!!! SP is not the only school that play teams in a division higher than themselves. Truth is if SP played 2A and 3A teams weekly they would be a better than average team but not exceptional. That is not saying the kids are better or the coaching staff is, it only means that upper division schools have a larger pool of kids to pull from.

Some SP fans will always have excusses for losses and coulda and woulda comments. They only see the game in their school colors and will not look at the broad picture. SP and Polk are both great teams in their division. Reality stinks

 

We are one of the few teams that play up and win most of the games. I would say without a doubt other 1A teams would be mercy ruled by Boyd or Polk County. We SP fans have alot of PRIDE in our town and football team....some see it as being arrogance but it is not.

Sp did very well that second half, and polk you just laid it on us the first quarter. Im glad we played polk, its just making us even better for the playoffs. Good luck to both teams in the future

croz, Old Pirate says majority of players live inside city limits or come from within 7 miles with rural areas at the base of Monteagle mountain and Orme, Tn. producing a few players thru the years. Hum....OP don't rightly know if any are from the New Hope area, which is across the Tn river from SP. The Pirates had 3 transfers this year, 1. kin folkes of coach Vic from Bradley-soph-lineman, coach Wilson's son Cleveland-jr.-TE and J. Howard-jr.-kicker who reportedly has not played since little league. OP can remember.........

1 Sam Picket whose parents lived in Whitwell but always attended SP,

3 current players that live in Jasper, 1 is a cousin to Montrell Mitchell-Blake Mitchell and 2 Hale brothers R.Hale-jr,-RB & C.Hale-fresh-RB. There dad played for the Pirates in the early 90s.

Fact is SP has had a very good group of kids who normally start playing at six yrs old. SP is jest like some other programs that the kids prefer football over anything else.
