Wow - they have not beaten SP since 1992 so will be hungry for a win. Should be great football then! Go Pirates! SP by at least 2 TD's! I am only predicting 2 TD's in deference to SP having to travel there. Too bad this game is not at Beene Stadium. They call it home field advantage for a reason! Greenback will have that advantage on Fri nite. Can't wait!!

Sorry for not posting in a while i have some other issues in the prior weeks but when i logged on a few moments ago and saw the shenanigans and absolute blasphemy these greenback or yellowbelly people were posting and I just couldnt resist! Ok heres the deal..... Greenback you are just another second round team that no south pittsburg fan will ever remember. The only reason we have to remember you in the first place is that you were to scared to come play us week 7 in the burg!! there shouldn't be a single greenback fan on this website this week because they should be hiding for the monster that is coming to town! People think Im kidding but im serious!

Haahahahahaha.. Funniest thing I've ever heard. Seriously the most ignorant thing someone has ever put on here. U guys better not overlook this team or it could come back and bite u. To the person who asked how fast #2 is in his 50 yard dash?? Haha his 40 is 4.48 last time I've checked but that is besides the point. This is a young and tough team. It could go either way. If they force a couple turnovers it will happen. An to the person who said something about getting the fire trucks to wet the field? Come on get a life u know nothing about football and just like to "talk" . 21 24 greenback

UncleDave has watched the film of Greenback vs GCA which is the only common opponent we have had. I have to say after watching the film that if South Pittsburg plays well Friday night, they win by 4 or 5 tds. The Pirates have two speedy backs and a wide receiver than can make plays….all three can take it to the house on any given play. Defensively, they continue to play better every week. If anything will get them to Cookeville again this year, it will be the improvement of the defense.

With that said, if the Pirates go into this game thinking Greenback will just rollover and quit, then it will be a tight one. I expect it to be a good game for a quarter…maybe until halftime due to both teams being juiced up with emotion. The Pirates will take control after half and cruise to the 3rd round.

No contest!!SP hands down will Mercy Rule these wannabe's. Mark it down!! You people up there must be on some bad stuff up there if you think u can beat SP. I mean I know u want your team to do good but let's be realistic!!What u got from Grace is just a sampling of what u will get from us!! Be ready all I can say and be sure and don't chicken out and get on here after the game so you can have some Humble Pie!!I mean if your coach was scared to play he could have at least had the decency to call Grider and say we're scared to play yall and that would have been that but let me tell yall wannabe's there will be no hiding come this Friday night!!!Like I told the Grace Baptist people last week this is a bunch of aggitated Pirates the TSSAA has woke up so GB all I can say is your victim #2.. SP-55- GB-7 only if our second team gives up a score!!!Grider maynot let them play though since he's already ticked!!!

That does look small for away stands..Looks like the SP faithful will be standing up

Sorry that Greenback doesn't have the money you big city schools do with government housing and all those restaurants. I was looking at google maps and South Pitt is bigger than most if not all double A towns in the east. SELECTIVE ENROLLMENT. :roflol:

Newsflash moron, we have around 3,500 residents in and around South Pittsburg. Kids that play at South Pittsburg have been there K-12….and I would almost bet 90% of them fit this scenario. We have one transfer on the team this year that lived in SP for several years before his family moved to Georgia due to work. No matter what us Pirate fans tell folks on here, most of you think we have to recruit to be so good every year. All I can tell you is that the tradition here has a lot to do with the success. You do need athletes, but good coaching and tradition go along ways.

Beene Stadium has been updated a lot, but all of that money has come from donations. Hometown people that are proud of their town and football team donate countless hours so that the kids in South Pittsburg can have good facilities for all sporting events. Not downing any school or community, but that is what it takes to have what SP has.

After watching film on SP it will be a very difficult win for Greenback. Do I believe Greenback can play with them? Yes, for how long? I hope 4 qtrs. If you look at the Grace vs Greenback game there is a bunch of could have's. Got stopped at 1 as time ran out before half would have made it 14-7, fumbled on the 15 going in on first series after half would have made it 14-14 all, dropped touchdown pass from 4 yrd line which should have given us 21. I believe we can play with them but we will see. I was hoping to see SP later down the road but its just the way it is. Good luck to both teams and hope there is no injuries. I believe the key to both teams is the line, believe we both have skilled players and will depend on which dline and oline show up Friday.

I checked the population for both places,SP had a little over 3 times the people. Must have kids going to other nearby schools.

S.P loses some kids to Hardy High School which is 1 mile down the road. They also lose kids to St. Andrews private school in Sewanee and they still get occasionally raided by North Jackson. I think So. pitt averages between 50-70 kids per grade level.

Yes, some go to Jasper or Marion Co as some crazy folks call it. We also have a small semi-private school in South Pittsburg called Richard Hardy that takes some kids out of the SPHS. Then you always have the folks that think their kids are too good to go to SP...sorry, but that is just the way I see it...and send them to private schools in Chattanooga.

    • Eagleville hosting shows laziness on the part of the TSSAA and a complete disregard for the appearance of impartiality. Absolutely nothing against EHS. Its not their fault TSSAA is lazy.    I understand EHS staff work the games at Eagleville, and they don’t want to miss the EHS games. However this isn’t rocket science. It would take less than 1 hour to cross-train EHS and RHS volunteers at the opposite sites. If Eagleville (or any host)  makes the tournament, flip their game site and have the volunteers flip sites for the days their school plays at the opposite site. Magically the school’s fans would be present to watch the their kids play and the kids at least lose some familiarity and home field advantage.  It takes almost no effort and is a ~15 minute extra drive.
    • We feel the pain!
    • Jason Lambert should be the only choice for the Baseball coaching position.
    • From the stats I found online it looks like Gabe Eddington- .484, 44 total hits, 43 runs scored and 42 stolen bases.Meanwhile, on the mound, the Austin Peay commit had a record of 8-2, while compiling 50 innings pitched with an ERA of 1.82. Carson Parrott - 7-0 overall as a starting pitcher with a 1.41 ERA, 95 strikeouts and a save in 53 and 1/3 innings pitched. Parrott hit .392 with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs with a .566 OBP and .716 SLG. Jaxon Walker - .454, 53 hits, 38 RBI’s, 9 HRs.   Not saying the other three aren’t deserving but Quillen had better BA than all three and was just as dominate pitching.  Like I said I don’t know how you leave off the 3a Baseball player of the year last year when he put up better numbers.  I know Greeneville’s Coach wasn’t happy about it saying “I don’t give a s*** what anybody else says. That kid is the best player in Tennessee, and everybody else on our team rises to his level“.  I’m sure winning another State Championship as a junior is more important to Carson than the individual award, it’s just a head scratcher to not be nominated
