It's tough not having MJ in the playoffs especially after the last two years. A very disappointing year. It's already been a long off season ! Cant wait for next year.

GO 9AAA !

Beech could be sitting at home with you after tonight I'm afraid. Hope I'm wrong. Never dreamed these two would have 10 losses between them.

Just walked in the door, thanks TSSAA. Hville wins tonight 49-31 behind 435 yds rushing with JR FB Jon Reed leading the way with 157 yds, Corey Jones added 136 yds and 4TD's. Sheffield led Arlington with 14 of 25 for 211 yds and 4 TD's throwing as the Tigers had 260 total yards.

What is going on that H'ville is making so many mistakes?  Has it been a problem in several games that penalties and turnovers have been costly?  If they do the same next week vs SC, their season will end.

Congrats to Gallatin, Hendersonville and Station Camp on their wins Friday night.

Hate that H'ville and SC have to face each other so soon; but that is the system we have.

Good luck to all !

GO 9AAA !

I hate it too. I know it costs more, but to me the best part of the playoffs is playing other schools from different parts of the state. There's nothing better than loading up the band and the pep bus, driving a few hours to take on the home team in front of a packed stadium. I wish district teams couldn't meet until the quarters at the earliest.

Makes no sense to play each other all year and then face each other early in the playoffs. If the TSSAA would give up half of their gate receipt and go from 50% to 25%; travel expense would not be an issue for anyone. Not to mention that the TSSAA should buy all the rings for the state champs.

Loading up the bus and facing a school you have only heard of or seen in the playoffs previously adds to the atmosphere.

  • 2 weeks later...

I heard Coach Lassiter say this several times in his time at both at Hville and Gallatin, chemistry goes a long way. We both could look back to last year but no need to go there, just enjoy what the kids have accomplished this year when the expectations were not there. I know the Commandos have had a lot of kids step up this year who had not played a lot on the varsity especially on the O line. I know a lot of programs don't pay a lot of attention to JV games but we sure do. Those games gave invaluable reps to a lot of young players who we will depend on next year and after that and our coaches spend a lot of time working with those guys. Anyway, good luck to the Wave tonight.
