The best team in the state is #1; no questions about it. It doesn't matter who is ranked where, SP will win it all. They lost by about 20 pts to a 4A school with 2 losses. NCS might have a great team but but unfortunately for them SP is still SP.

Other than Cloudland ranked (2) with 7 first place votes, the poll is pretty accurate. Of Course, Union City or NCS should be 1st and Dresden should be in top 4.

 

I'm sure Cloudland is a good team, but Wayne County would thrash them (As would 6 or 7 top teams)

NCS 7 wins came against opponents whose record totals 18-39 with only 1 of those having a winning record. If you're a good team, you're supposed to win those games. No way that's good enough for #1 ahead of SP

My thoughts are union city unless humboldt gets a rematch in playoffs then I'm saying humboldt. Not sure about it being SP though. And that #1 ranking will not be there after this weeks game against 3A power 8-1 Polk County

I know we keep saying these polls are voted on by folks that don't really know but ........ If SP gets beat by Polk County they should retain #1. Who in their right mind would drop a team for losing to a 3A powerhouse?

The only #1 ranking that means anything is the final one. After the dusts settles the real champ will stand. Playing upper class teams will pay dividends provided no costly injurys happen.

Obviously you haven't around long enough to know how these things work. If SP loses they will fall to #4. 2 losses at #1 don't give these polls much popularity. It's a joke. If a team goes 5-5 and wins the championship then they are best in Tennessee according to the playoff method, but I guarantee you they won't be ranked. Most of the voters non coach voters have never seen most of the top 5 teams play.
