tnnitehawk
Last year a lot of us met at the stadium and saw the team off and then we convoyed to Cookeville behind the busses. It was really nice and I could tell the boys were excited that we did it. Can definitely confirm that. It's rough getting the buses and all those vehicles out on Broadway every 1st Saturday in December. But I wouldn't (and haven't in to many years to count) miss leading them for anything. Heck, Maryville-Alcoa Jaycees even moved the Christmas Parade to the 2nd Saturday in December because of everybody going to the games. MLREB
So SX...the kids that do not start on the Raiders are called 'scrubs" by you? If that's true I need to start hanging around your practices and enjoy the Moma's faces. Hey number 66....you are a scrub!!! Yep...that's how it's done. No wonder I have failed for so many years. strongx
That's what we called each other in the old days at murvil and still do. Nobody took it personal. I am not used to this PC world just yet. What is the appropriate word used in the murvil sustem these days? Football challenged? Its all good because everybody has a role in "the system" whatever they are called. Scrubs sometimes turn into studs.
countryREB
Like I said.....pathetic to use the reference of scrubs for a group of kids. Not a surprise coming from you though, as you have tried to stir it up since you son stepped foot on the Middle School campus. Not politically correct, never will be. I was a scrub my son is a scrub and I'm sure you were a scrub at one time yourself. Laughable coming from you of all people.

Webster Definition of a Scrub pertaining to this conversation "a player not belonging to the first string" I agree in "internet lanquage" or "Urban vocabulary" its not the best term. But before the "internet" we were all scrubs. With enough hard work, talent, desire and excellent coaching we could possibly become "a player on the first string". At Maryville I do not think it would be derogatory in anyway. Our "Scrubs" contributed to every game this year and without them we would not be where we are every year. JMO P.S. I'm not taking any sides on this, just supporting the Rebels every day and in every way. Edited December 3, 2013 by tnnitehawk

Mav4life
When I was at AC we called the 2nd string/JV/Freshman the scrub team and I was a proud member of that for a time as are 99% of all High school players. No shame in being a part of the scrub team as it was part of the process and once you started taking pride in being a scrub and gained the "drive" to want to line up and take on the starters that is when you graduated from the scrub team and move on up the food chain. The Scrub teamers always were and are a vital part of any program as it is very difficult to get ready against air lol. what is funny about this is that as long as a player takes offense to being called a scrub and wants to use the PC route instead of joining the process they will always be a scrub, kind of a catch
pepvol
Good thing Gaylor didn't make them go pick up trash during Practice , then CountryREb and Frydaddy would of both been upset . While you're at it CountryReb , any Player / Personnel things going on that you could maybe inform Hendersonville about ? Good Lord are we gonna have to hear you guys whine every time someone from that Evil Empire upsets you ? It's a privilege to get to be a part of the Rebel Family , maybe some of you guys would enjoy this ride a lot more if you quit trying to find something to Complain about and just enjoyed the Ride . Ya I drink Kool Aid every dang day , and am Proud of it , the real question is why wouldn't anybody be thrilled to be a part of this Rebel Community .... other than maybe still being able to be buddies with all your Maryville Hating Buddies .
